Wait... aren't you a beta tester? Doesn't that in itself undermine your initial experience playing a game?
I'm ashamed to admit that I was not much "help" in this beta, because I severely limited my exposure to the game to keep it "fresh" for when it released. I sheepishly admit that I kind of abused my beta pass just to get an inside look at how the game was coming along during development. Please don't kill me for

It sounds like most people are very anxious and planning on playing the second they can get their hands on the game? Myself, I plan to download it and just peek at it a bit (decide on my character and faction, and maybe check out the graphics, etc.) but wait for the day-0 version before I actually begin playing in earnest. Although I know the game will continuously evolve and never be "done", somehow it feels like starting with a version before the day-0 version would be undermini
Thanks!
Now I know why the early release is running late: Brad is busy playing the game and not working! haha (Just joking)
Guys, when you've had the game a week or two, NOBODY is going to care anymore whether they got it a few hours later than they hoped. I understand being excited, but stuff happens and not everything goes as planned. Why get all upset over something that is not even going to matter to you anymore after a few days have passed? =)
Seriously, don't ever use PayPal.
I've been using PayPal since it was brand new and never had a single problem. Just my own personal experience...
So many qustions about MODing on day 1? Don't you people want to take a week or two to just play the game and get a feel for it before you start changing everything? heh
People who pre-ordered months ago and received beta access already had their credit cards charged, right? I am just curious because I was looking at upgrading to LE and it automatically added the 49.95 base game to my shopping cart even though I pressed the button for having already purchased the base game and just upgrading to LE. Both the 49.95 base game and the $20 upgrade went into the cart, plus the added shipping cost. I thought I had already paid for the bas
Ok, so I think I remember reading somewhere that the campaign will sort of function as a tutorial for Elemental? But I also think I recall reading that the campaign plays more like a RPG and does not have all the city building and researching aspects, etc. that would be integral parts of the strategy game? So I am left wondering: For people new to the game or with limited beta exposure, will sandbox mode or the campaign be the better introductory experience to he
Every time I visit the Forums of a recently released game, I always wonder how the developers handle all the complaining and ignorant behavior that so many people exibit when they don't like this or that or something doesn't work exactly yhe way they think it should. The Stardock forums are not NEARLY as bad like that as most other company's forums, but I still sometimes wonder how these guys that work so hard making games for us manage to keep wanting to do that after all the f
I have not programmed anything in over 10 years, but if it's not too complicated to familiarize myself with XML I would like to make some small additions to the game eventually (New quests, monsters, spells, maybe factions, etc.).
I was wondering if there will be an official MODing guide available in the near future? It would be particularly helpful (especially for less experienced users) if fully commented templates of the various different data structures could be made available explaining what each line of code does. A list of the various variable names used in the most current version with descriptions of what these variables are used for would also be great. Note: If t
I'm playing Forza Motorsports 3. LOL
Master of Orion was one of my favorite games of all time, and I was a HUGE Lord of the Rings / Dungeons and Dragons fan, so I was sooo excited about the Master of Magic game and I could not wait for it to come out. When MoM finally came out, I really loved many aspects of the game, but the AI was just so horrible that I was not able to enjoy PLAYING the game for long after I started learning HOW to play it. It was awesome up
Heh The first game that ever me run out and buy a computer just to play it was Wizardry in 1981 or 1982 I think? Fun memories...
My main concern is that the graphics are nice and all, but still totally unusable. By unusable, I mean that zoomed all the way out to the cloth map is still the only way to play, as only in that view are you able to tell at a glance what tiles are what. Zoomed in, it is a clusterfuck; I still can't tell what is what. Makes me sad. The best graphics in the world are useless if the art design is such that everything is tot
There is so much to love about Stardock and their games - nobody is PERFECT. I'll hope for the best in the manual and appreciate all the rest of the goodness regardless of how the manual turns out. heh
Guys, it's just a few days. It's not like Stardock was deliberately trying to screw you (they have no history of EVER trying to do anything but right by gamers?) - please give them a break? =)
Find the book of necromancy, then research the "homonculus" spell. Send the homonculus on vacation so you can stay home and enjoy the game and nobody will know! haha
The topic of manuals is actually one of my greater concerns regarding Elemental. In my opinion, documentation was really poorly handled in GalCiv2... there was no way to know what was up to date, with the manual saying one thing, the in-game tool tips saying another, and the wiki saying something else. I know how important it is to update the game, to fix elements that don't work, re-balance, etc., but I personally feel that it's jus
So I've been reading the latest game examples and looking at most of the screen shots... At first I admit I was not really too keen on the grahical style of Elemental. Hey quit throwing fruit at me and let me finish! LOL Over time however, I am finding the graphical style is really growing on me somehow and the more time I spend exposed to it, the more I find myself liking it? Has anybody else noticed themselves enjoying the graphics/artwork
Thanks Annatar, great info. =)
I doubt you could do this for balance reasons, but I'm still curious: When you either kill an enemy sovereign or take their capital city, can you capture their spellbooks? I kind of hope at the very least, the rare spellbooks only found in the game (not selectable at the beginning) do not just vanish from the game if their original owner is removed from the game? On a related note, I've heard the sovereigns usually "esca
Possible warning: The key they supposedly send with the book for the free extra campaign probably will not work on used copies (presumably it would already be used).
I remember seeing something about an extra campaign coming with the book somewhere too, but I see no mention of this when looking at the book's description on Amazon? Can anyone confirm or deny the extra campaing shipping with the book?
