For ME, not having movement paths is a borderline deal breaker, but I understand not everyone feels that strongly about it. Not having this feature is a HUGE problem for me personally, because I find myself feeling frustrated every time my units do something I did not want them to (or every time I move when I have to do it manually square by square all the time which undermines almost the entire playing experience because you spend a g

IDEALLY, there should be an OPTION to stop the unit's movement immediately if any newly discovered units and/or active terrain features are revealed during any single square of movement, allowing the player to adjust orders before that unit takes another step. I don't know how many times in this kind of game I have sent a unit somewhere and it detects something that common sense would just literally SCREAM "stop and THINK about what you are doing before you keep just running b
You don't get movement paths in Civ 5 either really. This is an outdated feature in alot of ways. Though I do like it in Galciv 2 and wouldnt object to it being added here. Then again I don't tend to do long move orders either...
You ABSOLUTELY DO have this feature in Civ5 (I personally can't think of any other modern TBS that doesn't have this feature
Ok, so back in October I decided to quit playing a few months and let the game be developed more fully. I remember way back then a lot of people had requested the game show movement paths for your units/characters displaying the path they would take and where they would end each turn, giving you a chance to approve/cancel this before the character began moving? I am almost positive I remember the Devs saying this was on the short term todo list? I don't mean to
Ok, so I'm sure a LOT has changed since the game was originally released? The original documentation that shipped with the game was pretty sketchy, but I'm guessing so much has changed since then that totally NEW documentation would be virtually required for anybody who doesn't want to feel totally lost when learning how to play? As a pre-order customer "returning" to see how Elemental has progressed since release, I am wondering if the game is adequately documented in its curre
Are movement paths anywhere in the near future? I really hate right-clicking to send a character somewhere only to find that they are taking the wrong route, or the terrain is rougher than I thought and they stop in between turns in a bad location or even that I accidentally had the wrong character active and sent it halfway across the world from where I wanted that character to go because I thought I was moving a different character, etc. Movement pa
I don't even know what doxbox is? heh I think when I tried it, I just did it from the DOS prompt option in windows. The game started to run, but then it wanted to know my sound card's RMA DMA and hex addresses (or whatever those old DOS sound card setting were back in the day). heh
MOO was a DOS game. I remember trying to re-install it years ago on my Win XP machine, but I could not get the sound to work because the old DOS soundcard settings aren't used anymore in windows. Does anyone know how to get sound to work for these old DOS games on newer windows based computers?
I will ultimately want both games. If money was really tight for me, and with the benefit of hindsight regarding the state of Elemental's release, I would have bought Civ V first (because I am confident that will be fun right out of the box) and waited to pick up Elemental when I could afford it. As it stands, Elemental is sitting mostly idle as I wait until I feel it is more complete than it is now. I've started playing several games of Elemental and I do see its <em
Wow, very impressive work! TYVM!
A mistake was made. People make mistakes. It's really not constructive to point fingers and rant and rave. The only constructive thing to do is to forgive and move forward.
This feature seems not to make it into any of the notes about the upcoming patches, so I would like to bump it up to the top so hopefully it will be considered more seriously?
Can we please add movement paths with notation about where a unit/stack's movement will terminate each turn to the list of changes?
So this essentially means I won't be able to get any further updates to the game without resorting to either impractical or outright unreasonable means, like re-downloading the entire game everytime an update is released or visiting my neighbours to use their internet connection instead.
This is probably a stupid question as I asume you have probably tried this already, but have you tried totally uninstalling Impulse
Update: saving the game, then quitting and re-loading fixed the problem (the added territory was not there upon re-load).
I have an odd bug early in the game where my starting city has ab extra 3x3 squares of influence/territory in addition to the 3x3 squares of influence/controlled territory centered on the town's actual location. The additional 9 squares of territory just popped up centered around a "darkling" quest location that spawned near my town when I visited a nearby inn and picked up the quest.
Hi, I know Stardock is great at actually LISTENING to feedback and requests, so here is one MINOR thing that would make ME enjoy the game much more: I would like to see movement path trails with an option to confirm/cancel moves before the unit just goes there (ie show the path a unit will take to a chosen destination BEFORE the unit just starts moving). It would also be nice if this path showed how far the unit would move each turn, because sometimes it's not
Amazing how fast you guys are getting stuff done - great job!
I have a feeling that a large number of "I'm disappointed" votes are from people who haven't even played the game.
A lot of people who have expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the game have taken the time to list very specific reasons for why they feel that way and there are some pretty common themes among those. Dismissing their opinions because you
I admit I am somewhat "disappointed" in the game's current state, but I have faith in Stardock that in 30-90 days this game will be SPECTACULAR. I have enough faith in Stardock that I would not accept a refund even if they offered me one - I'm content to wait for the game I know Elemental will become. =) I pre-ordered becaue I wanted to support Stardock while they developed the game, so I really don't mind waiting a little longer.
Take care Brad - we'll all look forward to seeing you back after a few well earned days of R&R! I have faith that I will come to love Elemental as much as I loved both versions of GalCiv... =)
I'm just sorry that all this chaos was caused when you were just trying to do the RIGHT thing. The street date being broken was obviously not your fault, and clearly you were only trying to do right by your customers by making this early release available (something other companies rarely do when their street dates are broken). It's a sad day when good intentions come back to bite the person in the ass
I agree the scale of the armies feels small, but I don't mind because that fits in with the fiction of restoring a devastated civilization to a ruined world (I assume the population was decimated as well).
Quoting Orion66, reply 5 well that things happen when you buy games that should be marked as BETA... Yeah, I hadn't realized that the game was a beta still on release day. Wish I'd known.
We don't really KNOW what the release version of the game (and AI) is like, because the day-0 patch is not live yet. Hopefully things will be much better later tonight. The multipl
I really love and respect Stardock and have eventually come to love every game they have created. You guys do a LOT of things better than anyone else in the industry, but I also feel you consistently make the same mistake and I wonder how much this hurts you in the long term. This letter is my attempt at constructive criticism and I sincerely hope it helps. You guys make AMAZING games with a lot of great ideas, but in the in
