Best Introduction to Elemental?

Ok, so I think I remember reading somewhere that the campaign will sort of function as a tutorial for Elemental?  But I also think I recall reading that the campaign plays more like a RPG and does not have all the city building and researching aspects, etc. that would be integral parts of the strategy game?  So I am left wondering:

For people new to the game or with limited beta exposure, will sandbox mode or the campaign be the better introductory experience to help people begin learning how to play?  =)

Having Not played the Campaign in any shape or form I can't honestly say. However I would think the first stage or two of the Campaign will be the "Tutorial Stages" that really teach you how to play.

In posts discussing this with Brad last evening, he said the Campaign took him about 6 hours. so he would expect it to take us 8-10 hours and that it was indeed designed to give you a feel of the game and how it runs.  I hesitate to call it a tutorial as he didn't call it that nor have I played it, but I certainly got the impression it was the place to start.
