yup MoM is one of the few dosbox games i would rather play than most modern games. Hoping this game turns out to be better, or at least just the same. But we would have to see some major changes between now and release..
I find the current hero/sovereign system to be very dull. It definitely needs a more classical RPG approach.
yup this is one thing i really want to push for. whether it be skill trees you choose from, pre destined traits, or using means improving. Hero units characteristics need improvement badly.
Ignore the lore - its just their attempt to make a few quick bucks on the side by doing what halo and warhammer have. I personally wish there was no "backstory", considering how this is supposed to be a sandbox empire builder... but I guess all companies have thier price. Still have to sigh when I see certain descriptions delayed in the beta because "they are waiting for random house to send them over". Not a good sign.[/quot
ya i had the same dilemma as well. I dont see the games lore or rules filling the instructions booklet. Maybe full of modding tools help.
I'm not sure what you mean by "uo" style rising, but yeah. After a character has used the longbow quite a bit he is probably going to be getting pretty good at it. An administrator that is in charge of a small settlement that revolves around extracting ore should get traits that improve his settlements ability to extract ore as governor. A merchant who is trading between cities should gradually get better "trader" traits which
really not happy seeing what gamers or gaming industry has become after COD or WOW released. I would say GTA as well, but that game seems very well thought out and developed. I dont like it, but its good quality game.
Im a fan of HOMM or MoM heroes. In the sense that they boost army skills. Some also helped in resources. but main purpose was to boost the other units skills. I would like to see more of that. Yes or no, i do want to see more champions have special skills or more skills. Maybe even less champions on the map, making them more rare, but just as vital. Its also possible to still have hero attack units, where their main skills dont boost others, but rather their own attacking skills.
I think the 1 point system works fine. Dont want to overdue superiority But i like the hero leading the army system. Leadership bonuses to the soldiers attached to the hero. Seems a few hours in, i had more heroes than military members. I think it should be the other way around. 6+ units being lead by a hero or 2. But for RPG sakes i like the idea of a group of heroes. Maybe if they had traits that helped out their soldiers or other heroes.
wow this just got serious, and here i thought it was only cosmetic changes. Nerd POWER!
so whats combat going to be like in the strategic mode. Is it like MoM. 1 tile creature runs into another and zooms in into a 9vs9 or something. Still dont know how company and squad things will be like.
BTW, in beta 2-B Civilization and Warfare are getting disabled and Diplomacy, Magic, and Adventure are being enabled.
well in that case i hope? that the strategy battles are not in. B/c if u cant make an army whats the point of doing those battles. Well maybe in another 2 weeks we try big battle gameplay. Anyone else think this game is TOO focused on heroes and the armies feel weak?
YES!!! Shouldnt receive a argument about this
isnt that gone in the new beta version. Noticed alot of points except for attack speed are in increments of 1 now. not .1
i agree that the tech tree needs to show a basic idea of the path you chosen. Thats what strategy is. Choosing blindly in the dark is not fun or strategic. Plus i really want a description of the skills i learned or about to choose to learn. Build Caravan, sounds great but doesnt say what it does. Form Platoons, ok whats the point of that?
i guess the armor looks like cloth. and better be a hooded cloak in final
just copy Master of Magic and you should be good. this is the beta and it has been STRESSSSSEDDDDDDDDDDDDD that not meant to be fun.
maybe if this was running DX 11 and crytech 2.0 engine. Ok. otherwise i dont see the point
Since its the beta, its ok to assume that they can have 1,000 tracks, but Beta players only get 1. So wait Plus isnt there a CD release with the Special edition? SO got to be like 16 good tracks in the game.
Anyone see the War hammer 40k MMO trailer. I dont like MMO since they are all pretty much WOW clones and im not a fan of 40k (endless war sounds... boring). But OMG the MMO 40k looks amazing.
kind of crappy that i can kill weak scientist or merchants or heroes (who description claims to be defending the land), just b/c i want the XP and nothing bad happens. I usually do this so i boost my heros movement from a pathetic 1 to like 3 or 4. So really, killing people off the bat might be a better move early in the game. But i still think their needs to be a downside to all this
found alot of graphics not loading properly. Like Avatars or buildings invisible. I usually have to zoom out to cloth map then zoom back in. Fixs alot of problems. But not good to have in final version.
He's fidgeting, because he's waiting for Beta 3 to be able to use magic.
lol. yup
I really think the devs should just stay closer to MoM game, since most people enjoy those rules.
so anyone know what we would expect from a 64 bit enhancement? Im new to the 64 bit thingy
I actually got confused with what was the pointing end on the feather. I guess usually games have it downwards. Anyways i think the cursors is broken anyways. Click on one box and it gives me the one next to it. Plus the battle cursor freezes sometimes and it can be used.
