It's the auto resolve. Special abilities like impale, cleave, gust of wind, ignys fire breath, and now (I know this thanks to you) crushing blow, are bugged in auto resolve. 

The main problem is that area of effect becomes glitched for these abilities. Crushing blow gets range. For most of the others, they hit ALL enemies, not just those in area of effect. 

Also, impale seems (cleave too, I think) to do a lot more damage than it should. Gust of wind does damage - it shouldn't.

Part of the risk of auto resolve, at least until this gets fixed.

Ogres have really strong lungs, and have you ever smelled their breath? You're lucky it only knocked one of your units out when it blew at you.

I didn't use auto-resolve, so that's not it.  Although maybe it is broken in auto-resolve too, who knows?

This happened to me several times in my last game as well.  Really startled me the first time when the ogre whacked a until 3 tiles away.

I have had this occur on several occasions even during the beta.   I don't think I reported it though.  To be3 honest I kinda liked the idea of the bone ogre being more dangerous.  

I think it only happens when the Ogre is next to one of your other units already, but I may be wrong.
