[Suggestion] World Events

World Events would be a nice addition to the game.  Things like local crop failures, droughts, and positive stuff as well.  Larger global events would be a nice touch as well, but at the moment I can't think of any that would work.

This kind of option could be selected at the game creation screen where you could choose no event, minor events, and major events kind of like what is available for monsters and shards currently.

(Disclaimer) I'm not a programmer so I have no idea how hard this kind of thing would be to implement.

We have some in the game right now.  Blood Season, Eclipse, Meteor Shower, Hulk Smash! and the Revelry.  Im wondering if they need to be more frequent though, they are pretty rare.

ps. One of those events may not be real

I've never seen a global event occur in all the games I've played... Has anyone else?

Nope, sounds cool.  I would've thought someone on the forums would post about it had it happened.

I haven't either. Is there a limit to how soon they can occur? I play mostly tiny or small maps, 150-250 turns.

I remember someone saying they got blood event and it was bugged, no monsters gained levels.

I've never seen one either.

Events to me, I'd love to see them work like FFH.  Global and local, it's something missing from this game right now.

If there are or will be random events in FE, please make it an option you can at least turn off or on at the starting a new game screen.  People's opinions differ on whether these types of things add to a game or take away.

Makes me happy that World events are in the game.  Sad that I haven't seen any yet, but this is what the Beta's all about, right?

I would think Hulk Out turns all your heroes into monsters.

I've played 3 games all to at least 400 turns and never seen an event.

Hulk Smash! better be real or else...

I've never seen one either, through a decent amount of gameplay over the last week.  +1 on the ability to change frequency per game when you're setting it up, if its viable.  But definitely a bit more than now, just to see them would be nice.

why not have them triggered by player/AI doing something? Like defeating a wildlands boss or defeating another faction after x turns?

I like the Idea, similar to in Heroes of might an magic, week of the nymph increases fairy output of all city's by 25% and such, or random event's in Master of Orion 2. hyperspace flux and such, right? Sounds fun...

How about making it like GalCiv2 where there's minor events that happen frequently, and "mega" events that are rare.

As I recall from a distant dev journal, they can be triggered by quests and buildings and such. I think I might make a few to see how this works.

Imagine completing a quest that frees an ancient evil, thinking it is only a story. Then 100 years later that evil comes back with a vengeance, acknowledging you as its liberator and demanding your service in destroying the world! You had better not say no.  }:)

Just took another trip through the XML. No Events as far as I saw. Do I need to open every fill at once and search for Eclipse?

Yes, this is what I was thinking exactly.

I've never seen such an event either... but I'm happy that they are in, sounds totally AWESOME 5*

I have played several quite long games and never seen a world event in game either.

World events are under quests in the XML.

I found the event quests. They all trigger when your population gets to 100. They have some cool effects on the game, but are very rare. One of them makes all factions go to war with each other.

flat out, you need more events, and more frequent events, especially those that impact single cities.

I haven't seen little events or world events.

I tried making the likelihood 1000 and I still can't get them working.

There need to be some relatively common events, that effect single cities, and more rare, but still relatively more common than current world events, world events.  I think there is either a bug with World Events or that they are just too rare still.  I don't know of anyone who has played the beta who has reported getting a single World Event, and how many beta testers are there now?  How many thousands?  I think that tells us that the World Events are *just a little* ;-) too rare at the moment.
