I don't normally start new threads regarding issues that have been discussed ad nauseum, but Kryo's response and locking of the "May we have refunds?" thread didn't sit well with me. The problem is his statement that everyone was offered an opportunity to obtain a refund for their purchase of WoM is not correct in the truest sense. Perhaps at some point months after release Brad offered refunds, but I can personally attest that Impulse was vehemently denying refund requests after release. In fact, when I contacted impulse requesting a refund it was denied and I was told the problems I had with my purchase(No Multiplayer at launch, no tactical battles in Multiplayer, blah blah blah) would be addressed in future updates. I believe some inquiry into what attempts StarReaper had previously made to obtain a refund wear merited before telling him he mistakenly chose to “give us the chance to try to make things right and get FE for free” and locking the thread.

To StarReaper:

Kryo is 100% correct when he says “… asking for a refund a year in is stretching reason pretty thin.” It would be a consumers paradise if you could get refunds for products you purchased that didn’t perform as advertised. However, at least in the United States, you simply shouldn’t expect refunds for such products. It’s a bit naive.

StarReaper had stated that he intentionally waited out for updates to WoM.

In fact, when I contacted impulse requesting a refund it was denied and I was told the problems I had with my purchase(No Multiplayer at launch, no tactical battles in Multiplayer, blah blah blah)

Our refund policy on Stardock products is listed on the store site (and was on the Impulse site at that time) and hasn't materially changed to my knowledge since well before then. Full refunds require that you're experiencing technical issues which support is unable to resolve. Otherwise, 75% refunds are available within 60 or 90 days as described in the policy. So if you directly requested a full refund outside the terms in the policy, that is likely why you were denied.

It was more trying to get the point across a bunch of us purchased the game to play multiplayer and basically a year later multiplayer was still not working. After waiting almost a year for the game to become playable i figured asking for a refund was within my rights as a consumer. Yes it was a year later, and yes I had zero expectation of actually getting money back( once again it wasnt the point).

If I go to my local Ford dealership, and buy a new Escape take it home and find half the features on the car were either not installed right, or not finished at all I would give the dealer a chance to fix it. If they did not I would expect a refund. The sticker on the car said, A.B.C.D. and I got A,D...

This relates directly to purchasing software. They said at my time of purchase this is what id be getting, and i didnt get that. The difference is I trusted StarDock to fix the game, in my opinnion they havent yet. Glad to see they are still working on it, but otherwise im really unhappy with the unfinished product. Not you may say look a year went by why didnt you ask for a refund? Simple. I trusted the maker to take care of me. I gave them the benifit of the doubt and my money and let them run with it. I was wrong. Its just further proof that game companies are getting more careless with our money and there products. And even Stardocks not immune.

And at the end of the day it was only.. what did I pay for my box set collectors edition...60.70.80... dollars? Something like that? Maybe more. Also purchased the game pre order before Brads whole Multiplayer Essay b.s. which should have been a huge red flag. live and learn.
