The portrait issue is the most annoying thing I have ever seen in a game since I started playing this kind of games. Everytime the devs say they fixed it and it's BS!
Units get portraits from other units randomly during the game, fix it once for all Jesus Christ!!!!!!
A bear cannoty possibly annihilate a whole city ALONE. It can damage it, it can destroy its food for the season, it cannot kill the whole population and make the city disappear! It's annoying! It's awful. To fix that I suggest that a city militia should always be available in a town (like in Napoleon Total War) those units don't need to be created by the player, they are just the citizens fighting back if the town is suddenly and unexpectedly attacked. Such units in fact should not be available to be moved away they exist only when the city is attacked. Also a city should NEVER be destroyed by a group of animals or a small band of bandits, it should just be damaged.
When a sovreign is killed his cities CANNOT disappear, it's completely STUPID, I wish there was another word to describe what it is, but STUPID is just too perfect!
The game is slow, units should be sped up. You don't get a sense of "epic" by making things slow and tedious! That is a misconcept that reigns over this game from day one!!! There is even a "Epic" option in the initial setting of the game. By selecting that you don't get a glorious style of game with a sense of magnitude... you just slow down research making the game so tedious that you wanna drive to the lake and crush a bunch of frogs with your boots. Buy a copy of Age of Wonders Shadow Magic and give units the same speed as in that game!
Fix movement! A wood tile should cost 2 movement points, and it does, but when a unit has one last point left it can always enter a wood tile WHY????
Units "JUMP" out of cities (sometimes in random directions) and they don't even count as movement the first few tiles they cross!!!! WHY????
And most of all: UNITS MUST NOT LOSE ALL THEIR MOVEMENT POINTS WHEN GROUPED WITH SLOWER UNITS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Onlt AFTER that BASIC stuff is fixed you can start thinking about changing the gameplay, if Fallen Enchantress still has those bugs it definitely won't be worth buying!
If you decide to improve multiplayer, you need to work on vision first: buildable watch towers to see the enemy advacing, stealth units invisible in woods, a spell that reveals those stealth units within one's borders etc... Also you'll need to speed up units: nobody would accept to play a turn where nothing happens (as I have often stated, in my opinion this game needs a play by email multiplayer mode and for that speed is critical!)
PS
I also find very annoying that at the beginning of turns the player sometimes receives a series of notifications but befor he can take care of the first one a second one appear, then a third one etc... For example when a technology has been researched in the same turn as a spell you first answer if you want to go to the spellbook or improve research, but then from magic the game takes you to research, before you get the chance to pick the next spell. This kind of incoherence at the beginning of turns when several things happen at the same time is very confusing.
