I started a 1.1 game and founded my kingdom.
I get warned when my city is idle, and get a popup: Choices are close/build/train. Why not View? I am probably going to be unable to locate the city on the map, so I can't make the choice now. I will go through close + look for the city, or build and cancel and look at the situation. Furthermore, a city has 2 separate queues, so why do I get a message when both are empty and not when only one is empty?
Next I notice that my city can build nothing very early on since it has pop size 4 and needs 5 to be able to do anything. So I will have to micro and look at it every turn in order to know when it grows. Because yes indeed, there is no notice, nothing. Civ IV BUG told you when you could whip to finish a building and stuff like that. It would be good to have the city tell you 'Hi, I CAN build something now'. Note this ties with the idle city popup mentioned above. It is useless to bring me a popup to ask me if I want to build or train when I can do neither because the only choice I'd have is to destroy some building. If I have built any.
The Harvest using farm being outside the city build menu is still as unintuitive and clunky as it used to be.
After building one building, I checked the City screen: It showed Citizens: -5. Wow. How do I get negative citizens? It looks like the citizens math is computed as the gildar, that is it is shown as if it was an income minus expenses stuff. Which it is not, otherwise I'd be losing 5 citizens per turn.
Also in the City screen: Huts increase max pop., which is fine as it is their role. Now where is max population visible? If it's shown, then it should be with the same text exactly as what is shown in the huts card, otherwise it's too confusing.
