One of the things that has become almost a tradition with me is to look for new shards after loading a savegame. Why? Because I have the uncanny suspicion that there are sometimes (or maybe always as I have not explored the whole map) more shards compared to when I save the game.
My question is now, wether anybody else made a comparable oberservation or wether my memory and eyesight are just beyond hope.
On the topic I can only say, that I always save money to build improvements within my area of influence and have a habit of checking my whole empire for monsters at the end of a turn (i.e. before saving). So its pretty fair to assume, that every resource that I perviously had knowledge of was already harvested or at least marked for future harvest when I save the game. And I also do not - or at least I hope so - forget somehting like an earth shard just between my first and my second city, which suddenly is there when I reload the game the next day or after one of those unlucky battles ... you know, the ones where the puny bandit always hit your heavly armored guy at the maximum of his attack and therefore was victorious.
So I'm wondering wether my memory and eyes are already so bad, that I don't remember or see shards all over my empire.
A bit additional information: version 1.06 without mods, but usually custom factions and custom sovereigns. I so far noticed shards of every element to be suddenly there, I didn't research anything adventure related in these turns and I usually use quicksaves, very seldom normal saves and never autosaves.
As soon as I get to it, I will provide some screenshots on this topic. The problem is only, that my oberservation / suspicion occurs somewhat unpredictable and randomly with respect to place and number of shards. So I basically have to make a screenshot of my whole empire and hope that something happens.
As I said, right now its just one of those assumptions that lets you go crazy.

EDIT: But I could make a screenshot of the beginning of the game and its current state and thus confirm at least that there are now two earth shards between city No.1 and No.2. This might be at least somewhat helpful if there is no "regular" way that spawns new shards like e.g. a specific adventure tech.
