I just read the in-game Hiergamenon entry on combat. While lacking in general it hinted at something that I so far have not witnessed in the game. Here it goes:
"All attacks have a damage type such as cutting, piercing, blunt, fire, ice, electrical and so forth. Similarly, defenses can be optimized against certain kinds of attacks. If the defending unit has the proper defense type, it always rolls it maximum defence. Thus, it is good to know what sort defense a unit has."
Sunds cool, but I have yet to encounter it in-game. Different types of magical damage? Ok, I have seen that. And seemingly some creatures are reported to be immune to e.g. fire damage. But cutting and piercing? And proper defense types? There is a defence that works better against ... let's say cutting damage than against blunt damage? I haven't seen anything like that. And where to I see individual "defense-against-x" values? Or "x points of cutting / piercing damage"?
So, am I just blind? Not far enough into the game so far? Or was the Hiergamenon written before certain things were removed from the release version?
