I know a major UI revamp is in the works before release, but I'd like to mention a couple things I've noticed which definitely need to change.
In the city UI, if you click on the building or training tabs, rather than the action tab, and then press the button to get the list of new things to train or build, you can't actually select to start a new building or start training a new character.
The city HUD still gives you all the info about how many resources a city supplies, which is something that doesn't really matter to me in a game with global resources, but doesn't tell me anything about what the city is currently training or building or how close to completion they are.
Perhaps I'm only having trouble at my resolution, but mousing over the mana bar around the portrait no longer gives me a popup about how much mana the character has.
If you're in the city building or training menu and try to mouse over a resource on the map, you don't get a popup telling you what the resource is.
It would be very useful to have a path to destination and the number or turns it would take to get there shown when your selected character or group has a destination. As an offshoot of this, it would be nice to have a temporary path lasting one turn show up between you and a quest destination when a new quest destination pops up. Make it a different color than the projected path. This would eliminate the constant zooming out to the cloth map to figure out where the nobleman's estate or dragon fountain, etc are located.
I'm not sure whether or not this qualifies as UI, but could we please have a choice to bind something else to the rotate view besides the middle mouse button? It doesn't seem to work with wheel mice that have a button wheel. I know I'm not alone in this, because I've seen a bunch of posts about it in various threads.
Patrol/waypoint function.
Change magic to always be one of the first buttons on the action menu. Right now it frequently gets pushed to the second screen of action buttons, even though it's one of the most frequently used buttons for magic users.
If you have a group of champions with your spellcaster, there's no way to target which champion is the target of your spell (for example, stoneskin or imbue champion automatically target the first valid target in the group, rather than allowing you to target it to a portrait icon in the group or prompting you to specify a target within the group.
