after playing the beta and having my sovereign get married and have kids, i think(like many it would seem) the children of the sovereign need a little something extra to make them special. this is what i propose.
like some of the champions they should get some abilities, like there is one champion that gives a boost to farming for instance, but for the children i think there should be some power variance. when a child is born there is a 50% chance that a child is born with an ability and a 50% chance that a child is born without an ability(there is even a chance on very rare occasions they may be born with 2!). then from there you can determine rarity.
75% chance its a normal ability, 20 percent chance its a rare ability and a 5 percent chance for an epic ability. here are some examples
normal - taskmaster: plus 20 percent movement to army speed this champion is a part of.
rare - berserker: in combat champion ignores first 5 points of damage from attacks and causes fear in opponent(not sure what fear could do, but something fairly useful).
epic - Gifted trainer: when stationed in a settlement troop training time is reduced by 50%
lineage spells: these are special spells that represent the power that flows through the lineage of the sovereign. in genetics you have traits that sometimes skip a generation or two or you have genes that are turned off, but maybe turned on if joined with a certain person. these would be spells that even the sovereign cannot use but pop up because of the child's lineage. they are fairly powerful and replace an ability in the epic category.
i think this would open up diplomacy alot too. imagine having a daughter that was born with 2 traits, one of which is epic. she would become a very powerful bargaining tool. it would be easy for the AI to use this as well if each child, based on many factors where assigned a value. then the AI would know how valuable the deal would be.
what do you think?
