If memory serves correctly, and that's by no means a sure thing for something pulled from such odd context, they appologized to the RA3 player base for the treatment they recieved. Someone claimed that EA was turning around on the Spore forum, mentioning the apology. Of course, then Spore came out, so...
This may have just been because an expansion was coming out, I stopped purchasing the series after Generals pissed me off with the homo terrorism crap. The only thing that makes the line any better than all the other generic crap RTS games out there is the entertaining time line stuff. Why the hell would I want to play one based on modern events?
I actually liked Generals, but on the other hand, I never followed it's story - it simply didn't interest me in the least.
I stopped taking an interest when their Let's-think-up-crazy-shit Department started taking LSD in the pre-production stages of CnC3. They completely ruined the Brotherhood, turning them into some post-modern teen revolutionary punk-styled 'radical' pieces of shit, and then they went completely bonkers with all the nonsensical alien crap. Don't even get me started on some of the units.
In Red Alert 3, there's an amphibious mobile Anti-Air transport with a mounted clown cannon for launching your soldiers. It also features a Schoolgirl Psychic on the battlefield. With the upcoming expansion, there's also going to be a fortress-unit in the form of a disembodied head and cyber-archers. Is it just me, or have CnC completely left the realm of "interesting yet within the realm of internal realism" for happy-happy la-la land?
