Listening to The fan-dumb "Taking these fans too seriously is usually a mistake. Although they tend to be louder than the rest of the fanbase combined, they are usually a decided minority in almost every fandom (though they often claim to be a majority).&n

Anything that makes Elemental War of MAGIC more Magical , I'm all for it! Great job.
I think metal needs to be easier to find as well. All of the game art shows warriors in beautiful, shiny armor, wielding shiny swords. This is supposed to be a high fantasy war game, not a survivalist game. In other words, I want to see more of this: And less of this: <img src="http://t2.gs
One suggestion: eliminate armlets/cuirasses/helms/legplates and consolidate all that into suits of armor. People don't mix and match pieces much, and having individual pieces making scrolling down in the shop when you're leading a ton of heroes into battle annoying.
NO!!! Bethesda did the same thing going from Morrowind to Oblivion and most people hated the change. Elemental needs more choices not less.
This is just a fantastic mod, the best I've seen so far. Thanks for all your hard work Heavenfall - you're Stardock's dark horse employee, they should hire you on as a content developer! I've played with this only in one game so far, but one pet-peeve of mine is the size of the Goblins. I just wish they could be smaller, like the size of a Familiar, rather than "Man" height. I have no idea if that is even possible though.
Quoting rossanderson48, reply 3Yeah when new patches come out weird things happen when you try to use old saves. DOH! After the fact I read that 1.09P would not work and play well with old saves. Normally, you can't even load an incompatible save with a new version.
Uh...you are wrong. This is a problem with comple
Can you guys help me out with listing all of the known Elemental fan sites w/links that have mod repositories on them? I am seriously starting to feel lost with the mod scene because I don't visit the site forums every day and am missing updates and changes. It would be nice if we could have a stickied thread with all of the modding websites for easy access and so we don't have to memorize all of them. It may also encourage modders to post their mods on these sites
Anybody know if this is still compatible with 1.09?
Reading various forums has been interesting. Seems like the more people play Civ 5, the less they like it. Game breaking bugs and over-simplification are the most common complaints. That's the impression that I have gotten as well and decided to skip it as well. Shame, I would have thought with 2 turn based games coming out this year that I would have spent 100s of hours playing both but it just hasn't hap
Just curious, when are the other modding categories going to be enabled in the game for download? I've heard no news about the progress for this for quite some time.
AI almost gave me a challenge when it was putting itself tens of thousands of gold in debt to crank out huge stacks of Scions and Ogres and Demons.
Heh ... my single stone giant could take out a dozen Ogres in a single battle without so much as a scratch. There's something definitely wrong with that, especially since I've had the stone giant since the first 10 minutes of the game and have never come close to losing him.
I don't know why we can't just do what MoM, MOO2 and Civ did. Give us the option to assign citizens to city production or the military (guns or butter). It worked fine in the past, why fix what ain't broken?
Civ V and Elemental are really too different to compare. They are? Let's see how really different they are? 1. They both start out with a unit to settle the first city? yep sure do sovereign in Ele and Settler in Civ 2. They both build settler/pioneer type units to create new cities? yep sure do. 3. They both research new technologies to increase their power? yep sure do. 4. They
This is slightly related to the current conversation, but is it just me or is the territorial and city bonuses to defense way, way, way to powerful? I recently attacked a city with a stack with a combat rating of around 300. There was a single defender with a rating around 80. The enemy was panicked the entire time, yet my units would constantly miss and score only 1 to 2 damage. It took me about 6 rounds to kill him. Also, I think the summons in the game are w
To paraphrase, you have to work with the engine and development capabilities you've got. That's what happened with the stand-alone FFH. It's not an issue of design, it's an issue of development. People look at Galactic Civilizations II and say "Great game!" but it's equally important to remember that its design derives from the fact that it was built on a platform that had been perfected over the previous nine years (Pear).<b
@ GaelicVigil why force the players to disable a building so they can build some troops. the whole idea of disabling buildings is a pretty bizarre one for a strategy game. if production was related to population, then recruiting would decrease production automatically when troops were recruited, without the player messing around disabling any newfangled mechanic.
Why are you debating it with me? I didn't sugges
The whole Monopoly comparison is moot, because Brad just stated that buildings could be "disabled" rather than demolished to make room for more specialist slots.
To the OP: Yes, absolutely. The game-crashing bugs are very minimal now. Crashes usually occur well into the late-game and only after several hours of game-play. I think it's reasonable to expect any PC game to crash a couple times after several hours of game-time/play. That's on par with most games. Game balancing is still another story. There are a lot of underlying mechanics that still n
Just curious Brad, which game do you like more, Elemental or Civilization 5? (Now be honest). [e digicons]:P[/e]
You can click through the "leads to" and "requires" options in the in-game hiergamenon to browse the tree.
Okay, that's fine then. I, and the OP had no idea it existed, though. So maybe it needs to be a little more visible/accessible than it currently is.
Ironically, I think your definition of "depth of gameplay" is incredibly shallow. Deep gameplay does not mean lots of features and doohickeys and junk. Deep gameplay means there are a lot of strategic choices to make. That is the hallmark of the Civ series, and Civ5 does it better than Civ4 in some areas, and worse in others. However, Elemental is a game with shallow gameplay (very few or very obvious tactical choices), and lots of
Everything on the website here was ported from the game itself--you can see the in-game Hiergamenon entries by clicking the unlocked/subsequent items in the tech descriptions.
But can technology be seen if it hasn't been unlocked? I think what I'd like to see is a full tree view like GalCiv2 so I can actually plan for a technology down the road, even if it isn't available yet.
CIV 5 *looks* more polished. It has more features right now.
I've been saying for a long time that the major game reviewers base their reviews on polish and accessibilty more than anything else. Take GTA 4 for example, it was far more shallow than GTA San Andreas, but got higher reviews across the board. Same thing with the Halo series. If you went by game
Yes, it is definitely possible. I do that sometimes when my capitol is already lv5 and I need an extra boost of population somewhere else.
Except this doesn't make any sense because a Pioneer only takes away 1 citizen when it is created. It's like Pioneers have citizens in their pocket.
Civ V looks lame, regardless of bugs. I played Civ 2 to death and never bothered with another Civ since. *shrug*
That pretty sums up how I feel about the Civ series. Except I've played the rest and, yes, you've done the right thing. Every subsequent game has just added unneeded fluff to the core game.
