Did I say outposts? There is no reason to be defensive, yes some of our questioning might sound a bit condescending but that is because you are obstinately defending that you don't have a part of the game that everyone else has.
Sounds to me like he thinks "defenders" mean selectable troops you can move out of the city and into the map. I myself did not know about militia until one of my cities was attacked and found my very inadequate army backed up by just enough militia to make a difference. I did not know, in fact, that you could view them anyway, so thanks for pointing that out. So yeah, if you're city was conquered without a fi

Dynasties even though I really liked the idea never really added anything to the game. City snaking was a huge problem back in the beta, I am guessing you weren't around for that. Sea travel isn't important. There really is no reason to travel across the sea, instead flying would be a better idea.
It's funny t

Fallen Enchantress is a fun game, but I feel like it lost too much "character" when it was overhauled from WoM. In particular, I really miss the big maps, ships, and dynasties. They made the world feel more alive and real. Here's a few favorites: Population mattered during wars Deciding how many units to build in a city for my army was a real factor, your population was reduced and wars actually devastated your people. They couldn&#
GaelicVigil, Kalin and Lord Xia are two of the long time players, and you can learn a lot from them. Every city is supposed to have defenders that you can only see in action when it's attacked, or you can check out in the detail window, on the left, above the buildings, above the city level. I'll attach a picture in a few minutes. If your cities do not have default defenders, and bandits take the
You might want to report that as a bug then. Every city starts with a militia (unarmored, not unarmed), you usually get 2 groups of militia and 1 group of archers in a typical city... and way more if it's a fortress.
Every settlement I've started in every game has started with no defenders. I've had to build a unit to get a defender every time. This is not a bug, this is how the game works.
I don't think you understand some of the game mechanics. All cities have default defenders. They are unarmored militia with the best one handed weapons you can create. The bigger and more advanced a city is, the more defenders it naturally has.
Uh....gonna call bullshit on that. The bandits walked in and the city dissappeared. No unarmed "default defenders" to be found.</p
Well, bandit mobs are pussys, I imagine that even the basic militia would be enough to kill most groups, so I would hope that they are not so dumb to suicide themselves by attack a town. Should be a rare band of bandits that could take out a town.
There were NO units guarding the town in the example I posted above. NONE. I left it undefended on purpose to try to get the AI mobs to attack it. They refused to,

I'm having a tough time figuring out how the different difficulty settings actually work. Is there a post somewhere with some more information about this? I see a lot of people, including myself, having games that are -unexpectedly- too hard or too easy because they don't understand the settings. My current game has the AI factions on "Challenging", and the general game on "normal" with "sparse" roaming monsters. The roaming creatures are extremely docile in

One of the bigger criticisms (if not the biggest) of FE among many reviews coming out since last week is it's lack of a "soul". Many feel that the components do not meld very well together and things feel a bit disjointed. I've felt something similar as I've played the game. The art is incredible, the lore of each faction is awesome, and the effort and love put into a backstory is fabulous. The problem is that this doesn't translate well into t

Here's the problem I've had with this game, including WoM, for a very long time. The AI is just too tough, and that includes both monster and kingdom/empire factions. The problem lies with the fact that a lot of us players simply want to enjoy a large fantasy sandbox to role-play in, when others, including the developers, want us on-edge, sweating out every minute to "win". It's a disconnect between gameplay styles when we're given loads of tools to customi

I'll say it again, Frogboy needs to get out of the business of catering to and taking advice from the so-called "community" and put a layer between himself and them. There's a good reason why most game companies and corporations in general do this. He only gets advice from the most rabid fanboys who represent nobody with realistic expectations or attitudes over the game. I built a browser-based MMORPG about 2 years ago and made the same mistake as Frogboy. Th

I have a fun time playing every time I turn it on, especially with a few mods - and I'm a very picky about my games. Brad: Your first and biggest mistake with the Elemental series was to give so much weight in decision making to the forum community. These basement-dwelling trolls will never be happy. Never. Ever. Taking these fans too seriously is usually a mistake. Although they tend to be louder than the rest of the fanbase combined, <a class="twikilink" title="http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph

Along with After the War and Expanded Factions , I love this mod. I can finally say that Elemental: War of Magic is a fun game to play. The magic items and the dungeons bring life and character to a formerly stale, boring game. I have one problem though. I seem to be getting TONS of dungeons once I hit dungeon level 2. At level one, I found maybe 2-3 dungeons after explori

Is there any chance we will get ships back into the game? I don't care if they were poorly implemented to begin with - they were hands-down, one of my favorite parts of the game. They don't have to be improved or re-coded, I would just like to see them in the game so we can sail across the ocean again. The option is under Impulse Settings/Archive & Install. I haven't used it in a long while, but it used to work and if you give FE a try with that enabled, you should be able to stick with a version you like if that game also goes through the drastic changes that WoM has. Is there a way to revert back to, say, version .7? The game was actually fun back then. We had awesome ships to sail around in, dynasties, minor factions, and I could actually beat the AI. The game had its share of troubles back then, but the game we have now just plain sucks.

I'm sorry if I've offended some, but this is how the game comes off for me and has since it was released. I'm not going to go through the forum searching for posts to back all this up, but there have been a lot of times where a major complaint is raised, Frogboy quickly responded in he affirmative, and it was immediately implemented. Then at a later date, is rescinded because the forum came down against it. One good example is the creature spawns and difficulty. &nbsp
