Sorry if this has already been posted before, but I just wanted to share this with you guys as it has really helped with my LAN games and at work. I've heard it mentioned here before on the forums by Frogboy himself, but it's pretty awesome if you haven't tried it. Basically it lets you sync up your computer desktop to an online file storage. It's perfect for sharing files with others for LAN, or just keeping your files backed-up and accessible from anywhere.

Obviously, there will probably never be any actual updates of AoW, but still, it's a "technical" restriction as part of the agreement. Sorry, I just don't understand this mentality. It's like saying "what do you mean, I have to have a computer that runs this stupid game?" You need a computer, you
Okay, then answer my question: Why do we need the application, period? GoG allows me to download all my stuff in one place too, without proprietary software. GoG requires an internet browser. The internet browser is free, but must be installed to receive delivery of games and updates. It too is a form of DRM (based on how you are defining the term). If you don't have an internet browser, you can't get at the games.&n

Wow, all you guys slamming the OP for asking this question should be ashamed of yourselves and apologize to him. This is a very legitimate question since it is a screenshot advertised on the retail-release box . I'm glad we've gotten a confirmation from a dev and Frogboy himself.
This is what I never understand. People will argue till they're blue in the face that "this is not DRM" and does absolutely nothing to restrict our play online or offline. My answer is, then why use it all? Maybe to buy and download software in one place? DRM restricts you to play only when you are logged on to DRM servers and it's form of copy protection for a product. It ensures you have a legal copy of it. Impulse

I'd love Stardock if they did this for one of the upcoming expansions.</p

I want to buy Shadow Magic, but I'm definitely going to wait till it comes to GoG.com or just get it off ebay/amazon. I want it 110% free of DRM.

To the OP: While I can see that you're certainly thinking in the right direction here for making cities feel more alive and less "spammy", I don't really like the idea of throwing in a new Settler unit. What's the point of the Pioneer, now that we have a Settler? Why would a Pioneer have to accompany a Settler to found a city? Why not just change how Pioneers work to make them act more like Settlers instead? I still like Brad's "slot" idea a lot more

I don't understand why someone would buy "Age of Wonders" instead of "Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic". Doesn't the latter include the original game plus a whole lot more?

The only thing I would change right now is to make the world more varied and colorful. Right now it's just bland mountains, deserts and forests - rinse and repeat. I'd like to see several more biome types beyond what we have. So let's have alpine forests, snowy alpine forests, cloud forests, tropical forests, red-rock deserts, scrub deserts, arabian deserts, tundra, ice-caps, volcanic terrain, and so on. Compare HoMM3 side by side with Elemental and you'll see what I

I *think* I get what you're trying to say, but I don't really see a problem. The world does feel pretty vast and empty, at least until you've researched more Adventure technology. Then you start to fill up all of the emptiness with monsters, goodie-huts and quests. I kind of like the vastness of it, more than the board-game feel of MoM. Sending a hero out to explore is pretty cool, and feels pretty epic compared to the old 2D TBS games.

Really good idea. This is definitely needed in a game that claims to have RPG elements. I was just thinking in my last game that I would never be able to collect all 3 stones for the sword forging quest because the AI had already uncovered every ancient battle field. If I could steal them from the enemy, it would be awesome. Besides, how can we ever build a Lord of the Rings mod without having the One Ring to fight over?

I don't know why, but I have never liked the leaders, cities etc having names from real life. I don't want to discover Helsinki just south of London, in the middle of a jungle... So maybe the random name generator from Elemental then. Instead of Helsinki I get Oogloglogo. Awesome.
Yeah, but by then you realize that Oogloglogo is run by Gengh

This is pretty cool. I'm going to try it out. The Conjuration book doesn't seem to have much variation to it though. All of the elementals have the same strength/weaknesses right, so there's no advantage to summoning a fire giant over a stone giant? It would be nice if elementals actually worked like rock/paper/scissors like Final Fantasy. Also, where is Summon Familiar?

First of all, (as you may have noticed) I love Elemental. I've had more fun with it in the past few weeks than any TBS in the past 10 years or so. If I'm being critical, it's because I care about it. Like a parent caring about a child with problems. I've noticed a lot of "foot-in-the-mouth" statements by Stardock in recent weeks about Elemental. One week it's, "no, we are not going for epic battles, our inspirations is MoM" and the next it's, "we're going to be

The only reason it isn't absolutely better is because it can't choose to focus on a tactic to the complete exclusion of anything else. Which players do
