I like the idea that one is guaranteed to get in, and the others might get in. I think Stardock has heard how much the community wants a wide selection of unique spells to choose from.

I'll agree with everything posted here. When an AI offers a peace treaty, its free which is cool. But if I'm seriously overpowering them I'd like to get some extra gold or materials in the bargain. When I sue for peace, it usually costs me an arm and a leg. So I'd like the option to return the favor.
Also - not sure how familiar you are with Space Empires IV -- Subjugation treaties would be neat as well... YES! Please add this! I don't mind ending a game because of an 'alliance treaty', in fact I prefer it because it saves time moping up leftover cities and AI's who don't stand a chance of winning. But I'd also like some acknowledgement of my domination of power in the game. When you go for an alliance treaty now,

I'll keep this short because I don't want to write a wall of text, and I would really like an answer to the question before people reading this post get bored and move on. [e digicons]:P[/e] Basically, is auto-combat working correctly? I love tactical combat, and I love the tactical combat feature. I'll even use it when I vastly overpower an opposing army. So I know how to use it, and I know how to position units to inflict maxi
Goontrooper, great idea! I was thinking about random events earlier and how to have them affect the game in ways that were fun. Mostly I was thinking of something like having a powerful champion offer to join your faction, or have a unit/building being instantly built. But I wasn't thinking big enough. I should have been thinking about M.U.L.E.! Remember how each turn would have a random event that affected resources?
Don't forget the 'auto resolve' button on the lower left hand side of the screen when you're in a tactical battle. When it becomes obvious that a battle is going to be a slow slugfest, I just click the button and have the computer take over the rest of the fight. It's sort of risky, but sometimes the savings in time is worth it!
I had this happen to, but didn't notice it right away so it's in all my saved games (I save every two turns). Fortunately, it popped me up to a billion gold, but I'm about 150 turns into a game right now and don't want to restart or abandon the game since I've invested so much time into it already. But still, I can tell I'm going to win just because I can out produce and upgrade everyone else.
I was very impressed with the book as well. It's actually much better than I expected because I figured a 'tie in' book would be OK but not that engaging. As it turned out, I had a hard time putting it down. Could have used more ponys, but that's ok. (SPOILERS) I don't suppose there is a way to get empire units up to full strength by eating darklings, is there? How about invisibility spells, are they going to be in the game?
Sweet! Insane, but sweet! Thanks for the heads up, I can't wait to have a spider Sov scuttling around the map!
Woah!
I'm sure the designers could come up with a good looking compass too. I usually scroll out to the cloth map because it's easer to tell which way is north. I do have the problem when a resource is destroyed and the message will say it's a goldmine in the northwest or something like that. Ideally, the camera would scroll quickly to it, because the event usually has happened in an area of the map I'm not paying attention to.
All right, I really wasn't expecting this. I usually take the penalty "Ugly", because even on large maps I'll have the game wrapped up before kids become a factor. All that is left is mopping up AIs who are hidden by the fog of war. My Soverign was ugly, but still managed to pop out 4 kids between battles. The game lasted much longer than normal, and my first child turned 18. I thought this was a good chance to see what the hype about hiers as champions was all
I can't wait for a Stardock Dev to answer your question. I want to know too! I didn't put the events together, but that actually matches with my experience as well. Just finished a game with two large land masses. Had my Soverign raise a thin land bridge to get from one to the other. Worked so well I wanted to make a highway on it. Figured it would be cool to use one island as an 'army factory' and then hustle them quickly over the bridge to get to the fron
I've had that happen to me as well. It's a rare event and has only happened twice out of dozens of games, but I don't see any pattern to it. Basically I'll be exploring the world when out of the blue an NPC champion will attack one of my stacks. If I kill him/her, then my rep goes down. Anyone know what triggers this event?
Wow..... I gotta admit, that looks pretty cool. I play the majority of the game in the cloth map mode, so although I do like this world, it wouldn't make that much difference to my overall enjoyment of the game. However with an interface like that, I can see how it would be an improvement. Anyone know what happened to this UI?
I wonder if this is a glitch because I've seen some changes made in 1.08 with morale that are kind of a drag. I always made my guy "Intimidating", because in the mid to late game he would automatically cause all stacks to flee before him. After the patch, I almost never have morale play a factor in my battles. It was almost to the point that I thought they'd taken out the ability entirely. If they HAVE changed the way
"Please fix the optimum path algorithm Stardock. Equally bad things happen around settlements where my troops will often walk multiple squares in the open beside the city when they could just step into the city and step out the otherside for way less movement." I thought that it would be easy to have my armies take a shortcut through cities, but that seems to eat all of my movement points. Does anyone know if there is a movement penalty for going through a city
I'm wondering if the book forshadows goodies coming up in the game. A large part of the book takes place in a huge undergound country/city. Does this mean that future expansions of EWoM will allow undergound exploration? (rubs hands with glee) Cuz I love the idea of establishing cities undergound, with tunnels leading to the pathetic world of the surface dwellers.... [e digicons][/e] Frogboy, please tell me this ability is coming!</p
HA! You had me laughing all the way through. Can't wait to see what is coming up next for the big green guy!
I'm about 3/4 of the way through, and I've got to admit that the book rocks. I honestly wasn't expecting that much and would have been happy with the usual 'potboiler' fantasy story. But... I'm having a hard time putting the book down. Nym is a completely repulsive character, and I'm eagerly awaiting him to come to a suitably squishy end. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
I suppose if it's the same person, we can expect some sort of furry mod in the future..... [e digicons]8C[/e]
What effect does the 'difficulty' setting have on the opening screen when you start a new game? Does it grant more/less resources? I know that when you add the other factions as players you can individually select their level of ability. But maybe selecting easy/hard settings on the map screen does something to determine world resources. Anybody know?
I didn't see anything official, but from what I can tell, lower level units are unable to flee combat. This would include pioneers. Heros and such can move on the glowing tiles to get out of combat, but cannon-fodder isn't so lucky. They have to stay behind and do as much damage as they can before getting wiped out.
Funny to see guys from the Shrapnel forums on here. I should have fugured that since EWoM is friendly to modders, this would be a natural gathering place. I was over there when they were still selling The War Engine. After modding the hell out of that game I moved on to Space Empires IV and never looked back.
