I like the idea of corpses staying on the strategic map after a battle. It marks the location of a major event, and would make the territory more interesting. I suppose it would be the EWOM version of a historical marker, only written in blood. I've gotta agree with the previous suggestions about adding the ability to access other planes of maps, for dungeons or a Myrror like realm. It adds a depth to the strategy elements. Has a player surrounded themselves with volcanoes? Then find a nearby dungeon and tunnel under them. Pop up on their doorstep with your army and catch them by surprise! Argh! The wait is killing me! I want to play! What happens if an enemy sovereign is killed in your territory? I'd imagine that they wouldn't escape that easily, but what happens to their kingdom? Does control fall to their children, or does it become a neutral kingdom?
I agree with Digsby. Copy protection is a significant determination of what titles I'll buy, simply because I've had horrible experiences with them in the past. I'm never using the latest, greatest computer to play games, and a hidden DRM file or secret tampering in my registry costs me hours of grief to clean up. When I buy a game, I'm not giving the publisher free reign to dump garbage on my hard drive that I have to clean up later.
