Thanks for asking this question. I would have never known about joeuser, and never gotten my avatar to upload properly.

OOHHH! Pretty pictures! I want it! I want it now! Yes, I agree it would be amazingly cool. It's a very good thing that I didn't see this picture before.
I'm about half way through the book right now, so will wait to post a more complete review. However, despite what I was expecting to find, the book is actually... pretty good. Yeah. It is. I got it because I thought it would be a fun thing to have, but didn't have any hopes of it being well written or having anything in the way of a plot. But it reminds me of the David Eddings Belgariad books. Not as complex of course, but not that far off the mark either
I was thinking about suggesting this earlier, but was just thinking about how it would make aquiring shards more meaningful to the player. But I hadn't thought about how a tough gaurdian helps with game balance. That does make a lot of sense and would keep players from getting overpowered too easily. Shards are easy to get now, and I don't see the AI fighting too hard to get them.
Amazing work! This makes playing a magic wielding Sovereign much cooler! And yes, I'd like to underline what another poster asked. Please see what you can do with the 'hurl bolder' spell. It really is ugly.
I've noticed this as well, but from the opposite side. If I send a group of three units against an army of 12, two of the enemy units will start on my side of the battlefield. I have the latest version of Elemental. Anyone else having this happen?
I wanted to separate them from the normal 'basic' strategies which new players might hear. [e digicons];P[/e] I mean, it's fine to suggest "keep your build queues full, keep an eye out for resources, protect caravans... etc. These work fine, but won't give struggling players as much of a boost as "be sure to take anything not nailed down before killing your opponents." [e digicons][/e]
This is a quick post to help players new to the game who are having problems getting their empires off the ground. I noticed some threads from people 100+ turns into a game, but still having a problem getting momentum behind their forces. Here are some exploits to help get you started. I'm calling them 'exploits', because they aren't cheats... not really. They are just simple strategies which might get overlooked. Neutral Kingdo
Woah! Now this is something that's gonna add tons of flavor to the game! Very good work!
I like this review and think that most fans of TBS games will understand what the reviewer is saying. When I read a review that says a TBS game's graphics are sub-par, I understand how little that effects the actual value of the game itself. So when this review mentions that the voice acting is just "fine" and that there is a steep learning curve, as a fan of the genere I can live with that. Yeah, pretty good review all things considering.
Research the "Civilization" tree until you get to "Pub" (which is after Town Hall IIRC). Put a few pubs in your cities and you can count on someone getting pregnant.... [e digicons];P[/e]
A good reputation is essential to get a mate. If your reputation is below your husband/wife, then they give you a quick speech to the effect of "It's not you, it's me. I'm looking for someone more established... someone who is not afraid to persue their dreams". If that happens just flash the cash, or in this case 'guildar'. Having about 500 gold in the bank makes up for a bad reputation every time. [e digicons]:P[/e]
Don't know why, but the old version worked like a charm for me. I made a few maps and then had created a largish 'hidden' map to play on. Put it in the right file and loaded it up fine. Game worked like a charm! I noticed the debris in the hills. It looks strange, but no biggie. I like the way you turned up the hills to make them more impressive. As a side effect, it makes it VERY easy to see what sort of terrain is passible and what is effectively
Woah! Am I dreaming? Does this thing actually exist? Only one way to find out... running off to download now.... [e digicons][/e]
Thank you for your honesty about what is going on with Stardock as well as your feelings about the launch. It's a rare trait to see such candor, although I think you are taking too much on your shoulders about Elemental's rocky start. Yes, the buck stops with you. But at the same time, dammit, I love this game. I'd be grinding my teeth if I had to wait until February for a more polished product. I'm glad I ordered this game directly from Stardock. My one
I'm glad you posted this because I thought I was the only one. I am having more crashes with the new update, about one crash every 75 turns. When I log back in, I'm able to play fine so it's not something I can replicate and therefore don't bother with posting a crash log. That being said, there are lots of improvements with the latest update, so it's a trade off. My music doesn't cut out any more, and the animations match up with the sound. I did get a weird p
I'll add a plug for my Elemental font file as well. It's not really a tool, but it is a graphic resource for anyone who wants to use the EWOM typeface to create any graphics for their mods. Just download the file and have Windows install it in the approperiate font folder. The file can be
I quickly put this together in FontCreator to show how the Elemental Font can be used for transition screens or as a background to avatars. The font came together pretty well, so I'm happy with it. I never found a good copy of the official "Q" or "Z", so cam
Read the Ciaphas Cain books. Each one is addictive. If you like Black Adder, you'll love this series
'Strike first, strike fast!' 'Dedicated to duty, united by War.' 'Unleash the hate!' 'Our enemies flee or remain where they fall.' 'My voice is thunder, my touch death.' 'All melts before me like wax.' 'If there is pay to be had, I'll do it.'
This is a really good suggestion, and I don't think it's been covered before. I find myself playing the cloth map setting for speed more than anything, and it is real easy to miss resources in my terratory which I'm not taking advantage of. Having a way to tab that on or off would be helpful. To your post: look for a quest location that describes itself as a crack in the ground. I think the icon looks pretty similar to other quest locations, but when you mouse over t
Are you using the squad ability? (I.E. The ability to create multiple units in one square) If you come with a stack of squads, he'll go down. It may not be easy depending on their gear, but it works.
You realize that your wife will never let you live that down, right? "It's your turn to do the dishes tonight.... or are you planning on RUNNING AWAY?????"
I haven't figured out the scoring system either. Most of my conquest victories are between 89 and 95. I did a master spell win and got a 90.
That is pretty cool. Dang, I'd hate to be staring down the barrel of one of those things on the battlefield. [e digicons]8C[/e] It looks completely brutal, and probably leathal to the user as well as the intended target. Good job!
