Sweet! Very well done!

OK, I've got all the Elemental font letters with the exception of J, Q, X and Z. If anyone knows where they can be found please let me know. I'll be using FontCreator to make a .ttf set for anyone who wants it. Ya never know....
The dragon looks fine in silver anyway, and it's kind of cool to have a minature with "Stardock" etched into the base. The cloth map is pretty cool. I didn't realize how large the thing actually was until my box came in the mail. Guess I figured it would be the same size as the Ultima maps.
Ouch! The results screen should have Victory in quotes. "Victory" You have lost over 2000 mil! [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
I posted earlier about wanting the Elemental Font in a .ttf file, and said something about how great it was when I first realized the runes on the Ultima IV cloth map could actually be read. Well, I didn't get a response about the font, but guess what I discovered when my cloth map came in the mail today... there is script around the border of the map and the poster. And yes, they can be read. I love the game like crazy, and realize it had a rocky launch (to put it kindly)
Mine came in the mail today. I'm in CA.
It's cool to hear from Froggy even though he should be relaxing on a much deserved vacation! I'm glad to hear that Stardock is so committed to this game because I plan keep playing it for years. Elemental is the perfect game for scratching the TBS itch! I've been hesitant about posting complaints, bug reports, flaws etc., because I don't want Stardock to throw up their hands in frustration and scream "You don't like it? Go back to waiting for a faithful X-COM remake
Love your name! Nick Danger... third eye! I haven't seen any beta tester NPCs yet. When they show up, does that mean you can marry them? [e digicons]:S[/e]
Ha! I thought that was just him being helpful, when he tells you that an undefended city is a target. I didn't realize he was having an internal struggle against his hidden, dark nature...
I am really hoping that this was something that was going to be changed before day 0 but just got overlooked. What reason is there for all the creatures in the fourth battle to be named things like "Ken", "Tim", "Bob" etc.? I actually appreciate all the work that went into creating the backstory for the game and am looking forward getting my Embers book in the mail soon. But it's hard to get emersed in the world of Elemental when one of the darklings in the third battle is n
This thread just made Elemental my favorite game of all time.
I didn't want to agree with your post, but ended up nodding my head at almost every point. Very good post which will hopefully result in an improved game. While I don't agree with some minor criticisms like not wanting to see the build queue from the build menu, other points you made were critically important. Some of the gaming buttons are so small I didn't realize they even existed until my mouse clicked on them accidentally.
I had the same thing happen to a game where I got the golem in turn one and then pounded my neighbors with it for the next 100+ turns. I thought it was overpowered, but for some reason the map was depleted of iron mines so it balanced out my armies nicely. If I had swords available then I could have just walked over everyone. But since I was stuck with leather armor and spears, the golem was a necessary addition to my army. I thought it might have been intentional, but
Have you played the campaign game? It's called a campaign, but really it's an expanded tutorial which allows you to get the basic concepts of the game without having a bunch of AI units breathing down your neck. If you've played the campaign through a few times, then I would recommend starting a game on the "Easy" setting and making a custom Sovereign that is geared out for combat. Put 15 points in STR, AG and Constitution (I think). Lower everything else down to 5.&
I like the unique look of the 'magical' font that appears on the cover of the instruction book as well as the splash screen for the game. It even has separate glyphs for the four elements which is a nice touch. It reminds me of seeing the runes in Ultima IV for the first time and realizing that they could actually be read. Does anyone have the complete font set as a .ttf file or something similar? I'm designing
I can confirm OP experience. I got the 1.06 patch and immediately noticed an increase in concentration of resources. First game thought I was just lucky but the second game was even better/worse. Two gold mines, two forests and two libraries next to the farmland. I noticed another area on the map that had a similar layout next to an Alliance starting place. It's cool, but gives you such a boost that it's too easy to steamroll all resistance once you get the resou
There is a completely logical reason for getting this game right now. The price for the game right now is about $50.00, and it has some rough edges. Really rough edges. The game balance needs attention, the instruction manual is woefully lacking and there are bugs. If you give it another 6 months, the game will be golden. Now let's say that the price drops by half in 6 months. Then the question becomes, do you get the game
I use a Logitech Trackman Wheel mouse with updated drivers. I get the same issue. It's not that critical, just sort of weird.
I'm having a camera problem as well. I'm unable to rotate the map. I use the mouse wheel to zoom and that works fine, but nothing else allows me to pivot the camera view. Am I going to have to change the settings of my mouse to get it to work?
Grrrr. Ungrateful somnavabitches....
Ahem... No one is mentioning the prestige that comes with the dragon figure? Or the cloth map? I still have all my cloth maps from the Ultima series. Ah, good times... But yeah, the game will only improve with future updates and support which should be available quickly. I'm counting on just spending the first few days getting the feel of the game down, exploring the factions and playing with the modding tools. By the time I'm ready for a huge rando
The broken start date really sucks, but thanks for keeping us in the loop and THANK YOU for letting us come to the party early. I'm just a preorder, so am probably in the back of the line. But I'll take anything I can get. Heck, just getting the game 5 minutes early would make me happy. Drool... Modding tools....
Yeah! Awesome idea! It strokes the ego too, since you'd be able to not only name cities after yourself, but mountains as well. Heck, you could even name a coastline after your wife or children if you wanted.
Thank Stardock that EWOM has random maps. That was the real spoiler for me with AoW2. The maps were pretty, but I always got the feeling that I was being shoe-horned into development spots. There were a few good tiles for building on, and everything else was unavailable. I figured it was my settlers and my empire. If I wanted to waste them on trying to build a city in a swamp, it was my own business. The random map feature is what I'm really looking forwa
