I think it would be easier to balance all hero items with a mana cost for buying and selling (would it be the same, or only half for selling?) rather than having to work out a unique cost in all resources for each and every item in the game. And in lore terms, being able to convert from or to a balanced amount of mana just makes sense in a magical world.

Well, what is possible, and what do we value? Do we value simplicity (ie. mana for everything) or would we like to buy some things with gildar, some things with metal, some things with crystal etc., or each item being a unique combination of resources? Personally I think it reasonable that mana can be converted to or from everything, although it would mean that in maps with higher number of mana shards you would be able to equip your heroes quicker. Although this is not nece

But isn't crystal already used to buy magical equipment for troops? The advantage of using mana is that you'd have to decide what you'd like more of - casting more spells or upgrading your heroes with better weapons, armor and items. Note that items (such as picked up from quests, loot or notable locations) would be able to be sold for a one-off mana boost. And it makes some logical sense (in a world of magic ;-)) that pure mana can be used to convert to an

Maybe mana for hero objects and gildar for rushing production (as well as metal and crystal used for putting unit production in the queue)? If you paid for your hero equipment in mana it would be quite fitting I think, and give an alternative use for all that mana, restricting its oversupply in other parts of the game. =)

Why haven't you got rid of the malware and spyware? Downloading stuff seems a bit risky when there's all that gunk clogging up your computer and abusing your privacy.

HOMM II is another game whose graphics have aged very well. =) Although I don't think HOMM III's graphics have aged nearly as well.

It was mentioned before the official Beta 2 Release Post, but in the actual post it mentioned a lot of other features but not this one. I would like clarification for this, because the modders have been very much looking forward to being able to use the Workshop in FE.

Well, the Spell of Making is supposed to stop anyone else from using mana, effectively making you the only channeler. So apart from spell-casting creatures, you should be the only side able to cast spells or train spell-casting troops.

Games with good gameplay might have good graphics - but there an awful lot of games with good graphics that don't have good gameplay.

Advertisement? Whenever I see or think up a good idea, I like to put it up in lights to make sure the devs see it. With a topic talks about a number of different related topics, I sometimes make a new thread to focus on one of them if I feel like it could use a bit more exposure/focus. =) PS: Note that the new thread was posted *after* I posted in the Terraforming thread, not before. ;-)

Like in AoW - they require upkeep of multiple mana per turn and provide an effect on the whole map or through your controlled domain. Can also sometimes be counteracted by other (expensive) global spells or enchantments. For more examples, see this post . Missing these types of spells mean the world will also feel less magical and vibrant and living</stron

Jon Schafer is working on another (as yet unannounced) project. He isn't working on FE, even if he was working on it before.

Okay, so it was there to be different from the base files. =)

Yes, I understand that. Do you mean that you meant to put the mention of hitpoints above?

49 Replies 34,849 Views

Why does it mention Accuracy, and then talk about providing a bonus for hit points? Must be a copy and paste error. =)

Looking forward to it! =) There are are few incorrect words (the one I noticed was in the sentence "The key resource for mundane warfare is metal, a resource that players pursuing this much live and die by.") and missed words (after "So don’t expect them to train or ") in the OP though, so you might want to check and correct any errors or omissions. =) Beta 2 looks good!

Yes, that would be good too. Devs, why not do both? Then you have practically everyone getting the latest patch, and we would know when a new update happens. However, if a check for updates doesn't succeed in a full version of the game, just say something like "Cannot check for updates - could not connect to server" but still load up the game anyway, unlike the betas.
