horses are kingdoms only, wargs are empire only. it's pointless i know. and inconsistent as sovs can buy both.
I kinda like that, makes my champions/Sovereign feel special riding around of awesome wolves (black for sovereign and family, white for others) while the rest are stuck with boring horses :P

This has been happening since 1.08 though for me (and most people I've read posts from) it only happens to non-sovereign units and generally it's after a battle ends, also it's normally set to 0. I had a child go from over 1,000 mana to 0 without ever casting a spell... made me VERY unhappy.

Currently I'm playing around with different builds for my sovereign trying to see what I like now that Organized is gone. These are some general guidelines I follow though any/all of them may change with my next build. 1. I always take royalty because I play kingdom and I like to get the +2 mana regen building asap. +3 essence per turn makes champions/sovereign actually viable as magical war machines. 2. I always take Insane and Inefficient because I

I really don't understand the love of hexes. It's a slightly different shape that works out to function the same as a staggered grid. If you take Elemental's grid and shift every other row 1/2 a square to the right you would have the identical system it just wouldn't look as "pretty." With a grid each square has 8 adjacent squares. With a hex system or a staggered grid each square has 6 adjacent squares, and that's the end of the functional difference.

Combining Civ 5 with Elemental.... No... just no. I haven't played Civ 5 yet (played 1-4 and most expansions though) and I from what I've read I can imagine it fairly well I think. In my opinion their two totally different games that I play for very different reasons. To me it would be like suggesting combining Chess and Stratego (new fantasy version of it with special powers specifically, kinda weird actually but fun with kids). They're just very different gam
it is most likely the case that your enemy ai had enough time to build grouped units - and grouped units are broken as hell (although apparently not as much as pioneers, organized, teleport, or arcane doom *rolls eyes*). Currently, a unit which starts as a group (3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12 fighters as 1 unit) retains it's entire attack and defensive strength no matter how much damage you do i=to it... so even if it's down to 1 g
yeah, I thought that might be the case. Thanks for the clarification. I was trying to adjust for my lack of organization. What do you recommend as a good solid beginning sov?
To get extra points ugly is also a really good negative trait to take for extra points. It actually seems to be broken right now because you will still end up with 4 kids. Every sovereign I make is currently ugly, insane, and inefficient because

Archers are always good. A couple squads (or larger units) of longbows (no armor needed) can destroy most AI units I've run across especially if you have the crystal to pump them up with rings/amulets/etc... that boost attack 90+ ranged attack is so much fun. Throw in a few Ice Lords or some other high attack melee unit for when things get close to you. Always target anything with a ranged ability first and try to lure his melee units on to squares that don't give a defense

1. I don't think there is any way to check buffs on a unit. You can either remember, or if it's a unit you created just compare to a fresh unit, if it's a champion you can do the math on their defense/attack and see if it works out correctly with or without the buff. I know this is FAR from ideal but it's the only way I know. 2. As far as I know it buffs the first eligible target in the square, having already been buffed does not negate eligibility however.&

I'm guessing the armor that dropped was from a level 3 quest that involves killing a bunch of spiders. If that's the case it is also restricted to males from the race of Men. Or it can be sold for just over 1,000 gold. It's basically legendary plate armor (both have 12 armor) but it lets you equip gloves with it.

-Not sure about admin costs, I always assumed it was food/gold upkeep for various buildings though -Your sons/daughters sometime have +X health and +X mana per combat round, unless it's changed it doesn't actually tell you anywhere just take them into battle and find out -Your sovereign gets some percentage of the experience for all battles that you are involved in regardless of the units you use. Can't remember the details but it was something like 5% for every inactive
Quoting Lyander, reply 9Organized was over powerful becuase it allowed you to carry around the powerful but slow units and it neglated your sovern down to a taxi that could toss out a few spells. for me it just costs a bit more to put boots cloak and horses on my units so they are able to move quickly my soverns stack still has a movement of 4-5 just can't carry around the OP summon creatures and move that quickly anymore so I just leav

I had one kid born with 2003 essence (not joking, had lots of essence boosting techs and buildings though). Unfortunately everything else about the kid was garbage, so he went around terraforming and summoning, so he wasn't a complete waste.

You can use them if you make your sovereign a "Man" as in from the race "Men." Tarthans, Amaranians (spelling that wrong I'm sure) and the other kingdom races can not wear them, neither can the Empire races. This is actually something that really annoys me, I really like the Tarthans for appearance, but when all is said and done playing a custom tarthan race instead of a custom Men race is like handicapping myself for the sake of "pretty."

I've never really had the experience of not having food, but you make a good point regarding cities expanding influence. If others agree I'll switch gold and food on the list. As for the ancient temple vs. iron, I was trying to not think of any particular strategy just a general "usefulness/necessity to survive." Spells are significantly more diverse than iron. Even without shards there's the various summons, unit and city enchantments, the teleport sp

After restarting a new game a few times and cursing the fact I kept only getting a fertile land for my first city I came to realize I wouldn't care that much if my first city didn't have food. Which got me to thinking "who the hell decided this was a 'suitable place for our first settlement'?" So this is my opinion of the relative importance of each resource nodes based on a few criteria. First is "if you don't have this you're screwed" and second is "At least 1 is <st

Smarter AI (other kingdoms/empires and monsters) that will take advantage of large numbers of unprotected settlements on its borders. I see the problem as a lack of risk associated with many cities. Not a lack of punishment due to some arbitrary game mechanic like food cost, happiness, etc... In games like Civ, GalCiv, etc... something that keeps expansion in check is that you have to spend X turns building defense or you'll just lose all the cities you spammed.&nb
Work has kept me from the game much of the week, and there have been a few updates. Before I delve back into it tonight I'd like some advice. I used Organization in every game--even with the increased price it was worth it. Now that it is not an option, is my sovereign's army going to be lumbering around at a snail's pace? What's the best way to maximize my army's movement? For those who used Org. what are you going with no
