If you're having a food problem try this on your next game: Step 1: Build cities by all food resources (obviously you probably do this already) Step 2: Research adventure tech until extra food resources unlocked Step 3: Research trading (and advanced trading if you're empire) Step 4: Figure out which city has the most food resources (3+ in one city is ideal, but 2 is all you should need) Step 5: Build caravans in all your cities and send them to t

Basically you get food from fertile land, apiaries, oasis, wild wheat, and fruit groves (I think that's all of them). As an example: Fertile land gives you +4 food which means you can build 4 buildings that require 1 food (houses, merchants, etc...). Once those 4 are built it will no longer show you as having any food on the top of the screen. -Food does not accumulate over time like gold or materials -If it's showing you "have food" it means you can build a number
I take it Janusk died in your game? Because when that happens the game assigns another advisor, for me it's always been a champion when that happened, though I suppose if you had no other champions it would assign another unit. Either way: Bear >>>>> Janusk :P
This has always been the case as far as I know. Also if you take over an opponent city in which it's already built you can still build one. However if you take over a city that is building one and let it complete you will not be able to build another. It seems to register that you have built a Great Mill (and similar 1 per faction buildings) when it first enters the queue of one of your cities and again when it completes. So one that is already built doesn't t
Traveling boots are restricted to Men, not the gender but the faction. Tarthans for example cannot use them.
It has been a very very difficult few weeks. Morale is the lowest I've ever seen it. We're pretty saddened by events. Like most players, we just want to get a build out that just &%$^$ works for everyone without any drama. That said, we're here for you guys. We're going to work on Elemental until it is the game we hoped it would be. It won't happen overnight but the past couple of weeks have made it pretty clear what ideas
My hope is this will get fixed soon. This is a really cheap strategy for the early game, I wouldn't suggest it unless you want to make life easier. It works on all difficulties, though higher difficulties you have less time to do it. Step 1: Explore Step 2: Find AI and check city for defense Step 3: If only spouse take the city, just walk in and take the city (or cities). If defended go back to step 1. Step 4: Leave city and auto-resolve again
Added an edit to original post to reflect the seeming hotfix change, now they miss all the time apparently. Tomorrow I'll continue my post-hotfix game I started and get those two summons to confirm whether the hotfix changed it for me as well.
Chief, did the hotfix do anything to Sov Creation? I notice now I don't have any hair choice options for almost all the races. The only ones I can pick hair for are my created "Undead Race" and the Ironers have 1 hair and 1 hat choice. Aside from that none of the other races have hair choices. I'm not sure if the update did this or if one of my mods suddenly started causing a problem. Everything was fine with the first 1.08, but I just tried creati
Whether or not this gets read by the Stardock employees or not I just wanted to say Thank You! Unlike almost every other game company out there you guys don't make me feel like a wallet or a dollar sign. Sure you've made some mistakes along the way with EWoM but you've owned up to each of them, explained to the community what happened, and provided dates when we could expect patches, and met (more or less) those deadlines. I was especially grateful, and impressed, with t
After today's patch I'm able to recruit heroes just like I could prior to 1.08, though I've never played with charisma below 10.
I am surprised and somewhat dismayed to hear that they have buffed Stone Giant and Fire Giant. Stone Giant in particular is very easy to get and cast and was already overpowered. It worries me because it suggests that Stardock have no idea whatsoever how to balance things sensibly.
I suspect this imbalance was a result of changing the way magic works. The intention of that of course being to make sovereigns and
You may have the option for "janusk to give advice" (or whatever it is called) turned off, that will prevent him from spawning. Unfortunately if you want Janusk you have to suffer through his blather about "instantly building improvements on resources inside your area of influence" and assorted other incorrect statements.

Pre-1.08 the Stone and Fire Giants were my "go-to spells" for research. 1.08 made them stronger by far, to the point of being severely overpowered. Rokoth's Promise, level 4 earth spell, 8 mana. The spell the stone giant has that costs all of 3 mana now does ~23 damage to everything in a 3x3 square. This pretty much wipes anything until mid-game at least and destroys sovereigns period unless they pump constitution WAY up. Summon Fire Giant, level 3 fire spell
That does sound like a bit of a rough start, but I agree with Kalin on most of his points: -Explore, explore, explore. On most of the "large" maps (there's only 3, maybe 4, "random ones") circular exploration isn't efficient. I send my sovereign in one direction, Janusk in another, recruit a champion or two as I go and send them in another direction. Single cheap champions are perfect explorers, they can run away from all battles early on and pick up goodies. N

Well both changes seem good to me :) And thank you for the quick reply Istari! Your hard work reading and responding to posts this evening is really appreciated :)
Quoting Chibiabos, reply 90No, I can't. As I posted in its own thread, it was not until I encountered the 6th champion that one was recruitable at all. The first 5 had no "Recruit" nor even "talk to" icon under "Actions" if I had the NPC champion selected. They are completely unrecruitable. 1.08 CHANGELOG ADDENDUM: + Most -- well over half -- of the heroes in the game world are no long
1) There seems to be an increased number of food resources appearing on maps for me. Used Ctrl+U cheat to check this after I noticed it on my first game (cut short due to unrecruitable champions). It's not only more food, but Wild Wheat and Twilight Bees as random resources, neither of which I have ever seen apart from the twilight bees the kingdom tech provides. 2) Kingdom empires start with access to the watchtower city upgrade.
Prior to 1.08 if I wanted to start a new game it would default to whatever map size (and other settings) I had set previously. It reverts to Tiny every time now, and I only play large maps.
I also found half a dozen or more of these "Champions ; Soldier - NPC ; Armed with X" Really annoying since every female I found was a "Champion" including Rilis (my favourite wife) :(
I have noticed that shards disappear if they are razed by monsters. I have had shards under my control when the improvement was razed by a monster and unlike other resources which can be rebuilt shards simply vanish.
The Ice Lord is even more confusing, he not only has essence but he also regenerates essence during combat... but can't use it for anything so it's really wasted.
Good tip for people, potions of essence (+0.5) also work like this, not sure if you need just one or if you need two to make a full 1 essence before leveling though. Though I prefer to drag one hero with the ring around at a time to avoid accidental leveling of heroes without the ring, especially if I'm just making a summoner that will just sit in a town.
