Medically speaking, the box version of Galactic Civilizations will give you leprosy.
Yikes. I'll make sure to wear gloves when the Elemental box arrives. :) I can't fondle my pewter dragon if my fingers fall off from leprosy.

Perhaps instead of a hard limit, the more magic items you wear, the more chance of there being some kind of "reaction" that will do more harm with the more trinkets you're wearing? Making a load on essence would be interesting as well. Could backstory it as they only become activate via the essence of the wearer (of course, it would mean no-essence characters couldn't use them logically) so to do their thing, they draw "power" from the wearer - like a living battery. </p

Seems that the different races wear different stuff. I couldn't put boots on my Thrathian Sovereign (the Kingdom that gets Egalitarian, I think it's called Thrath). When looking at the appearance during Sovereign creation, some of those choices are gone too. Must be the way they are trying to get the races to have a different appearance/culture.

Agreed - music is under-appreciated in games, and Elemental has awesome music.
In this game I am spamming the end turn button just so I can get to my next research upgrade, that is really stupid. It's not apples and oranges. The games have some things in common and are worth comparing to improve this game. I want the turns to feel more meaningful and not force me to spam the end turn button just so I can get to my next city upgrade or get my next research. That really cheapens the game.<br /

I loaded a saved game and all seems well except I noticed the town name is labeled wrong on the map. The town's card says Nadil (correct) by the label on the map says Imiek (the name of my second town). My second town appears to be labeled correctly in both places. T

I should also add that the tactical battle music just blows all the other away in terms of volume. It is by far the loudest music I've encountered in the game. Seems like the volumes on the themes could use some normalizing and such so that the volume doesn't have such huge variations from hard to hear to makes-a-heavy-metal-concert-sound-mellow volumes

What happened was the music was like in conflict with each other or something. I could hear faintly the main menu theme trying to play but the layered music on the map was still playing and dominating (i.e. didn't fade out for the main menu theme). After a while (when the layered theme finished?) the game unstuck itself and is acting normal. debug.err: http://pastebin.ca/1904209

While on the game map, the layered music plays really softly. So I turn up my speakers to hear it. Then when I go on the Kingdom Info screen, it gets MUCH louder and then I have to turn my speakers down, but then when I'm done with the kingdom screen, the music gets all soft again. If I go back to the main menu (Esc) then that music plays all full volume as usual. I played the mp3s in Windows Media Player as a sanity check, and the volume was fine. I don't know
Now there are obvious counters to this - don't let the dragon travel alone, for example - but that's beside the point. You shouldn't have to take special precautions to avoid a potential exploit, the exploit should not exist at all; the dragon should be able to kill a fragile spellcaster and his 50 harmless peasant friends by targetting the spellcaster first, this is what player expect and no illogical game mechanic should get in the way of
The last screenshot with the trade screen catches my interest. What exactly is 'Perceived Value'? Obviously, this is some sort of estimate of how much the trade is worth - a number of games use this same model. My question is - and I acknowledge that I'm probably splitting hairs, here - perceived by whom? Is it my perceived value? His perceived value? Is it mine on one side and his on another? Some abstract number based on how many gold

I think slowing research down some would help. The Hosten Library was mentioned, I didn't take it because I didn't feel like I needed it. I'm ahead of at least a few of the other nations in research and have cleaned out the Diplomacy tree (don't know if more levels still help it though). I think next game, I'm going to play with the Pacing option when you create a world and see what that does. I don't think I'll ever create an army of any decent troops with the amount of non-g

Wargs and horses should be different if only one is a horse and the other is sort of a wolvish sort of creature. I like the idea of different kinds of horse/warg denoting their strength/stamina/etc. which would impact the quality of the cavalry units created with them. That said, it's still an abstract representation like everything else on the map. I mean a herd of "real" animals should move around, migrate (especially in this world where natural prey/food is probably rare).
