Next best, IMO is single-player. Crank the AI difficulty up and you will have a hard time of it, especially since you have AI teammates and they make some dumb decisions (although they have gotten better with patching). It's possible that if a person only ever plays single-player and never gets into a multi-player game (where they see how the game SHOULD be played) then they would have IMMENSE enjoyment out of it (I envy those people). That'
Yes, some of the items are useless. Hell, a LOT of the items are useless. But once you understand the 10 or so that are good, you realize they are quite balanced, just pretend the rest don't exist.
Which means that the item balance needs help. In a game with so many items - if only 10-15 are good, that's a problem. The fact 10 or 15 are so much better than the rest seems to say the others are

We have folders for races and units where it will read from \Docs\My Games\Elemental. How about folders for: -Music (to add songs/tweak music/sound settings -Music\Sound (to hold custom sound effects and unit speech) -Maps (to hold our custom maps) -Maps\Structures (to hold our custom buildings [stats, etc]) -Maps\Tiles (to hold custom tiles) Or, if it needs to be where things like music and maps has to stay in the \

I am a control freak, I have my methods, I keep my things organized and seemingly this whole online activation trend clashes with that. Seems like I'll have to accept it or leave gaming again. I don't know, I guess I could try with this digital download after all, of course we're not talking about millions, but I'd certainly be ready to pay more for the product if it

It may not be fair to compare it to other games at this stage in the Beta, but there are many tactical battle games that when played compel me to want to play more tactical battles. At this point they almost seem to detract from the game, and I generally want to skip battles for now. They are missing the "fun" el

It's about time. I wonder why they avoided Shogun for so long. Rome gets expansions. Medieval got an Expansion, a sequel, more expansions for the sequel. Two more franchises come out. And NOW they finally get back to Shogun? I would love it if they just take the original, maybe update the graphics a little, balance the units (like someone said with Geisha) and maybe add a few more added more fiefs (think Nobunaga's Ambition), better AI (always), and BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE MO
So as I play Elemental Beta 4 I look for its Civness. I want it to inform me, lead me to a certain extent, help me to grasp the complexities of play, but it does little of that. It doesn't tell me why I should built peasants. Will they be able to defend me? Will they level up? Will they be replaced by future units? It gives me a shop where I can buy things but who are they for? Are they for my sovereign? Are they automatically equipped on particular units? Do I ma

DG had potential: -but it's AI was an absolute joke. Yeah, I get it's about MP, but it didn't even play a basic game of DG well. It bought the wrong citadel upgrades, bought bad items, fought badly, had weak concept of map/flag control - even on Nightmare -I agree, there's only like 3 decent maps: Cataract, Prison, and one of the 5v5 ones (I think it was either Brothers or that round one with the heal crystal in the middle -Half the abilities didn't even work/wor

I didn't find Kingdoms.xml. but I found CoreRacesTypes.xml and CoreRacesConfig.xml in C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Elemental\data\English These have all the stock races. I figure creating a new file and cut/pasting one as a template and go from there? Going to try it out and see.

I know piracy is a big issue and all, but such requirements only encourage it, imho. If I buy something, I want to be able to do what I want with it (except reproducing it, of course). If I have an obsessive relationship with the whole OS-reinizialization thing, I don't want to DEPEND on the company's

I don't know if I had it or not - but I had the bug where you didn't get tactical battles, which seems like it was a symptom of not having the hotfix. I uninstalled Elemental and then reinstalled it and now I have it and got my tactical battles back.

It's okay to not like fast paced games, but you can't really trash SC2 for doing it because that's exactly how it's meant to be. It's not meant to appeal to (predominantly) TBS gamers. When you create a game there's a "pacing" setting in the lower right which I don't think actually does anything yet. But Stardock does have the right idea.
I think it does. When I select Epic pacing, the time to research takes a LOT longer.

Elemental CE for $70 looks like a steal by comparison. Heck, it's only $10 more than standard SC2.
