Relatively few RTS games nowadays really break barriers or introduce novel play styles that move the genre forward.[/quote] To me, I like those no-micro-workers, squad-based games more not so much because they move the genre forward but because I find the play-style more appealing. Mine iron, send it to blacksmith to make a sword from, send sword to an alchemist to enchant with some gems, so on so forth. Then you'd be able to design units and equip them with these weapons, as many of them as you have. There would've been several different places that could do something with t

I don't think I want to start with a bang, but maybe researching parties/teams might not make sense. I don't want to do everything by turn 20 and then have the next 100 turns have not much to research. It's close enough to that, imo, on the normal pacing. 1. I agree - instead of houses, how about having cities have a food upkeep or something just like military units have a gold upkeep. That ways the "cities everywhere" thing won't happen (since you have to have food income to maintain population) but you don't have to build houses yourself. 2.
