ok ... it is sad that there is real politics, this is true. What about political systems in-place in the game? I mean do adopt one simple system, perhaps to work alongside "civics" ... where a nation adopts either a Creed, Motto, Monolythic Government, Guild, something whatever its called. This Creed will give acess to special units as well as special abilities. Like the necromancer creed will have better summons and a weaker economy, or a Nature creed will have

oh? so building a Farm on fertile land expends essence now? o.O
I think I would rather have an introduction of dimensional spells rather than time spells. They would probably incorporate similar ideas ... but not be restricted to thinking in terms of time. Chronological spells (going into the future) might not be involved, but certainly summoning units from distant armies/cities, placing an enemy unit into a slip/space pocket for 5-10 turns, ect, would be quite interesting. You could place a "damage over time spell" on an enemy unit and se
I like the Ideas on a Sovereign having a certain Reputation! ... Probably heroes, Mercenary Heroes, Assasins, Adventurers, and Family members can all have various reputations, which affect the armies they join and the cities they are posted in. As well as how others react to them.
Earth would primarily cause physical damage. Life and Death spells would more than likely cause Mystical damage. Certain Ice and Wind spells would most likely cause physical damage, while other spells would cause Water and Lightning damage. Pretty much all fire spells would cause fire damage. I think in addition to causing physical damage, Earth spells can cause terraforming feats, (like Volcano) which could ultimately end up causing fire damage(lava) or water damage(f
[quote who="inerz" reply="183" id="2468106"]im basically retyping the points made in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zORv8wwiadQ&NR=1&feature=fvwp as it seems sceptics have completely missed this simple and elegant point. look, if you do nothing about global warming then there are 2 options: 1a. global warming was not caused by manmade gases and we did nothing, so all is good, we spent no money on useless clean tech and we keep pollutin
Monagomous: can only have one wife, +20% fertility factor for that wife, +1 attribute point Polygamous: can have multiple wives -1 attribute point Harem: can have 100 wives, -10% fertility factor for each wife, -1 attribute point (place-holder): -10% fertility rate, +1 attribute point Randy: +10% fertility for each wife, -1 attribute points Titan's Blood: +100% fertility for each wife, each wife always dies upon giving birth, all children
A few other Sovereign Trait-Abilities Burning Blood: activatable Rage ability, can strengthen rage upon level up (increases speed, attack, and attack speed, blitz through opponents at the cost of a slow mana burn) StoneSkinned(StoneWarrior): earth-based activatable mode, no mana burn. Defense doubled, movement halfed, mana cost for spells increased 30%. Nature's Fury: Sovereign Mutates into a writhing tree, man-eating Vines shoot forwards across the ground. Occas
I also think nations should be able to merc out, or at least ask for exorbitant amounts of money for joining in a war (or territory, tech, ect ect) The higher your military rating and reputation, the more cash you should be able to ask for.
Oooh, great Idea for a Military Civic (Feudal-State)- can choose to pay your troops either food or gold (+ some other bonuses, + some penalties, all based on having the military be the highest class in society) possible bonuses including greater experience bonus for newly trained units, or added bonuses to your top X current units.
perhaps you should specify Medieval: Total War as Medieval 2: Total War, as the first one came out in the 90s.
I like to think of Air moreso in terms of Lightning + Wind possibilities. The way I see Lightning vs Fire is that Fireballs/Firestorms are much larger and used for killing many, many enemies. Whereas Chain-Lightning is far more powerful (higher attack) although can only hit connected units, and only a limited finite number, say 20 people, jumping from one to the other, maybe it cannot "criss-cross" and therefore rarely be able to wipe a whole unit in one go, however tending to fry the most po
yea, attack/damage vs dodge/armor would be nice. I agree with Tourresh. especially considering the fact that these are traits which would probably be helpful for a majority of units.
A 100 mana spell called "limbo destabilizer" .... prevents all limbo spells within the battle, including any spells cast within this turn. (so if the enemy sovereign casts "summon dragon" and you cast "limbo destabilizer" their spell is cancelled and no more time travel/limbo spells for the battle)
That sounds good. And perhaps the structures/buildings in the cities of that region can help to determine how many mercenaries are available in an area. It would also be cool for you, as a nation, to be "Mercenary" ... in this case you would have less choice of who you fought, but would allow another player to buy "real mercenaries/ good troops" and you would get alot of gold. So you fight their battle for them, you get alot of gold, and suffer any/all losses that are to be had.
oh, id certainly be all for more intelligent pathfinding. I think all units should be great at navigating/pathfinding within their own limits, however some are just better (their commander has a higher leadership score, ect) for instance, most units have to avoid rocks, ridges, and thick trees, while units with a high-leadership commander (or a recon pack?) can simply walk over and through these obstacles. Alternatively, the "AI" of the unit's actions could be proportionate to the lea

Now that I think about it however ... it would be a GREAT idea if we could get Rites of Passage to be extremely specific. Aka, "you are only allowed to march along this dotted line or you declare war on my by default!" kind of thing. Also, keeping trade relations Seperate from military passage would also help. Civilization unfortunately kept them both in an all-encompassing "open borders"
Well, in Fall From Heaven, sneak attacks were possible, but only by factions that met certain requirements. In this game there are seven Guilds* you can join. And if you join the Guild* council of Esus, you can perform a sneak attack at any time. Also, if you follow the Guild of Esus people don't see, and theoretically can't tell, that you are following that guild. Also, if you have the guild headquarters, you can see all troops stationed in any city that also contains the guild. The
As a long-time military builder (in games :p) I know I would be quite mad if some goody-goody with lots of money was able to hire an entire army under my nose. Should we really give this much power to the civilization sector of techs? I agree the mercenary idea is cool, but im not sure it should be the end-all be all. Perhaps, however, you could have a significant mercenary strategy, by paying more for your armies and return not having to research military paths directly. Of course, i
I think there should also be an *Observers* option for multiplayer battles. Basically, normally during a battle between players A and C ... B, D, and so-on just go about tweaking their decisions and commands for the turn. However, if one (or maybe only both?) of the participants choose *Observers* during the battle start-up, then EVERYONE can watch the battle take place. However, the Observers cannot talk to the participants, only to each other. The way I figure it is that a Lord can
I'd like to Nominate Civ 4 BTS (as a whole, since iirc u can buy it that way) it was certainly the largest leap forward in the Civilization series, in terms of detail and gameplay. Not Sure when SMAC came out, but it was a great game :) also, glad to see Persona 3 is in the runnings!! certainly would be in a close running for my vote ^_^ (might want to add Persona 4 ... but then again that might thin out the Persona vote!) It would certainly be interesting .... maybe one nation likes to build on the coasts, and so its nation almost completely hugs the continent, meanwhile another nation sets up shop wherever there are Deep Woods. And then you have other nations fighting over the mountains and the plains. Of course its easier to keep track of if its contiguous, but not completely necessary. Perhaps cheaper due to maintanence (of roads?) or what have you, but not altogether necessary.
oh ... Impulse is my favorite definitely. Thank you Stardock! I don't actually have to be on line to play my games ... or even be running Impulse! yay!
