It only works in 1.19 beta versions, it is a stealth change from 1.11 -> 1.19. Previously, no global negative modifiers worked, and in 1.19 they do.

Desura might be very interesting, if developers can't be arsed to include their own proper mod installations (like Elemental). It's basically steam/impulse but with thought out mod compatibilities. Like steamworks and reactor, it's a pull to get developers in to use their store. But they're doing something new and it might just work.
DrJBHL your posts (while great) are beginning to show a great amount of bias. It is making them a lot less worth reading. Just something to think about, I hope.

There was also the thing about being able to garrison your units instantly when building a new citay.

A bit of a necro here but I think it's relevant and the right place to post. Apparently, in another raid on counterfeit goods and child pornography sites, some innocent sites were hit as well. 84 000 of them. http://torrentfreak.com/u-s-government-shuts-down-84000-websites-by-mistake-110
Keep in mind you can override the unittype for the core sovereigns that have the bonus. So you can easily make a new bonus, then make the new sovereign unittype have that one instead.
A little example of the new mixed weapons in artifact: http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/7299/elemental1297838648.jpg They're aesthetic only, they don't cause any mix of stats or updated weapons abilities. Still, it's something that's cool to have.
Thanks for the info.
Can you talk a bit more of how the xml for resources is laid out? Resource Ventri Metal Deposit 0.25 &nbs
Steamworks is just the "in" for them to make developers flock to Steam. While steamworks is free for developers, if Steam gains a true monopoly status then Steam WON'T be free for consumers. So the danger of using Steamworks is that it will come back and hurt the consumer. And you're right, Steamworks (as a complete solution, not just the DRM part) has no real competition today (certainly not reactor). Imho, Steamworks is a perfect form of DRM because it fits me perfectly as a
It's not, because if you support steam you're supporting a (near) monopoly. If you're supporting reactor you're supporting competition. It's about what you want for the future of pc gaming. Don't trust Steam to stay the same.
You're welcome, hope you enjoy what the community has to offer.
Rarely do we see Godwin's Law fulfilled in the first post! Is there anything else than the environment that bothers you? Because to me, the rest of the distinctions between Empire and Kingdom seem rather uncoloured by ethics. If anything, they are more drawing inspiration from political variants such as fascism, socialism and aristocracies.
Even though the game is quite shallow, I am actually having a GREAT time playing it (but then, I always am a sucker for fantasy sims). What I meant with my prestige comment is that I don't really see a need to use their secondary functions (attract champions). I usually just spam prestige to get the new stats and buildings unlocked.
I like smaller maps, because once I get up to steam there's nothing the AI can do to stop me and I don't want to spend hours just mopping up. The most interesting game is before I conquer a faction or two as it's still challenging. Once that's done, no matter how many enemies are left, the game is pretty much over because nothing the AI does will oppose me.
I don't think any of those issues is from MoreBuildings or Expanded Factions, as they don't really mess with the standard factions much at all.
Install: Extract all folders to documents\my games\elemental\mods\ Make sure "Use Mods" is turned ON in options
Don't they have an upkeep cost off the charts? Literally one of the most expensive units in the game, I think. Higher than terminators.
It would be interesting to see actual data on memory profiling of Elemental, with proper numbers for each category, including textures/models, 'game data' (stuff it gets from xml) and instances of that data.
I would second this. It might affect mods. If we can push ten times the amount of textures without causing any significant bump in memory usage, that would be useful (and so would being able to load more models as well).
Agelian that is not related to Elementerra, that crash happens in the standard game as well. cephalo, great job. If I have one comment, it's that mountains tend to get shredded up by paths a lot. So instead of having cohesive mountainranges, you end up with many many mountaintops in close proximity but still separated. I would love a setting that allowed for more cohesive mountainranges with less fluctuating heights.
It all comes down to this; elemental is playable without DRM. When you sign up to download betas, you - YOU - say it's ok to install that piece of DRM. You don't have to do that. You choose to. Could it be more clear that the beta comes with DRM? Absolutely!
Different texture calls in the gameitemtype. The base skin is "metal" but I make the crest be clothing or whatever (since it's not see-through that colour won't matter).
