I've always had a tremendous amount of affection for Murder By Death , a parody of murder&detective stories/films. It's a perfect mix of slapstick humor, almost stand-up comedy, and a deeper sort of "this doesn't make any sense whatsoever" type humor. For example, when everybody tries to guess who did it and why, one detective X accuses the murderer of being detective X, and himself only being hired to pretend like he was the d

Actually I wouldn't mind some talk about lore as well. How does FE relate to E:wom? I'm the kind of guy that doesn't really care for lore once I'm in game, but as a teaser for the real product I love it.
I'm very interested in tactical combat as well. Less so in WoM 1.4. But, I guess if nothing else then 1.4 can fix the bugs introduced in 1.3, and tweak the many bad design choices made as well.
The real problem is there's 10 000 people who are waiting for FE, and 10 000 opinions on what they should focus on developing. All anybody can do is make their case and hope.
I prefer to think of FE as Elemental 1.0 release, with WoM as a curiously extended prototype.
This would be my opinion as well. From what I've heard so far in dev logs, FE seems closer to what E:wom should have been. Ie - depth to individual mechanics, and real choice between how you choose to win (build armies? become a powerful magician? recruit champions?), and a balanced game. Of course, we all fill in the gaps of what we have
You shouldn't do that. You'll just end up devaluing the gildar when trading with other factions. All you'll end up with is more expensive materials and metals.
I bought the game as soon as it came out and I gotta say in the expansion the factions had better get some depth to them and break away from this two flavors of bland crap or I'm going to QQ about it on every soap box I can stand on. Trust me I have nothing better to do, it'll be in my user reviews, in my forum posts, I won't shut up about it for months. I want an empire that can use Desert Terrain as i
Ya, pc gaming iv thriving. Maybe it's not the development you wanted, but the market did, and the developers did. Frankly, old games are overrated. I go back and play some classic like Half-life or FF7. And you know what? They're not that good! I probably wouldn't even play them if they were released today. I think some people tend to idolize retro games and disregard advances made in new games. A lot of people are getting older and just not getting the rush they do any mo
I would love for things to be able to happen once a unit is killed, for whatever reason.
I'm fine with heroes being able to stop armies single-handed, IF there is a value that makes it impossible to do it over and over in a short period of time. For example, an army may have 500 health and a hero may have 500 health. If they face off, the hero should not walk out of that combat with full health.
By the lack of comments, am I to assume that no one's actually playing E:wom anymore?
They have introduced a little more intrigue. *SPOILER* (if you haven't watched and are considering)
Last night they revealed the big alien bad guys--the "skinners"--are actually harnessed like the human slave children and they showed an entirely different alien species seemingly in charge and inhabiting the big "T" structures that they are trying to penetrate. So the scene where the skinner is actually act

Flying units, both strategic and tactical. I don't really care for naval fighting, but if it's done as smoothly as it was in Shogun2 I'd be in on it. I would also like to see one more realm, for example underground. And I'd like to see the game opened up some for mod scripts. Edit: And also, I'd like to see much more fantasy elements. Not just king X who begat queen Y who built a new city. I want floating islands, magic wildfires, dying gods, undead
I like this a lot more than before. Melee combat should always be dangerous to both parties, unless one has overwhelming statistics to back him up. However, I don't agree with Teslacrashed that death was slow and painful in medieval combat. Death was usually fast and painful.
What I didn't like about archmage was that a lot of strategy revolved around positioning your units in the right order (the first unit in a stack always fought against the first unit in the enemy's stack). It just felt so extremely FAKE. I'd much rather give units order to follow, ie flank, attack head on, fire and retreat, focus on archers/mages/giants/whatever. Plenty of modern webgames have worked around the issue of direct attacks by delaying them up to X hours, and so
A chance to break the charm based on intelligence and magic resistance, weighted against the damage suffered and the strength of the spell (intelligence from caster).
Imho the big difference in stance comes from the fact that Blizzard aren't making money from subscriptions. In WoW, they wanted people to play as long as possible so it made sense to not allow people to buy characters or items. In diablo 3, the relationship is reversed. You've already paid for the main product, and every hour you spend in-game after that is a cost for Blizzard.
It's a new feature, 4-man units is the smallest squad size now. Pioneers, caravans and some other recruitable creatures are exempt.
Edit: Nvm. I'll let people speak for themselves.
Nah, I'm not into that dynasty stuff. Anyway, I'm sure it is something anyone can do.
If I do any mods at this point, it will be for FE.

I was like... whaaaat... someone's playing it already? I like what I'm seeing as well, but I think it looks quite limited in its features. It seems that rather than a horde of features like dynasty and such, we will be getting the depth that was so fundamentally missing from E:wom (I think that is what Derek refers to when he says "core gameplay"). I'm looking forward to more information about combat and modding.
