Steam is just another "marketplace" app, I don't care one bit if I have to get another one to play some game. Steam is merely something evil well-done.

Guys there's a lot of assumptions going around right now. A viable magic tech tree (for example, shard improvements) could completely offset the need for a mana cap. Some things you just have to wait and see what it looks like.

I'm wondering whether I should update this to 1.3 standard, because frankly 1.3 sucks donkeyass. The other option is to go for an improved game version instead, with a bunch of gamechanges. Play 1.3 without this and let me know what you think. I'm talking about repeatable buildings limits and tile limits in particular.

In 1.3 beta, you have decided to limit "repeatable" buildings to 1 per citylevel. This applies, for example, to studies and workshops. The implementation is completely separated from the careful balance of food vs output. Consider, that I can in a level 3 city, which requires 2 food, build 3 studies. Then consider that I need at the very least 7 food spent in a level 3 city to bring it to level 4 - assuming I have access to houses. But in a level 4 city, I can still only build 4 studies. So,

1) You said clear as day that population buildings would not consume "open tiles" in a city. This was never implemented in the beta, and it is very possible to end up having to destroy buildings just so you can build population buildings. 2) Open tiles are limited only in kingdom non-capital cities, the limit is not implemented for empire non-capital cities (rather, they have 50 open tiles all the time just as before). No capital city is limited in any way either, but this could

Not only is that changelog riddled with errors and not up-to-date, but the 1.3 patch was released in an absolutely horrid state with many of the new mechanics breaking the game. It is beyond me how you can release a wank patch like this. What is the point of beta if you do not pay attention and fix the problems we report? It's a damn shame.

I have to wonder what the point is, it's a lot of effort to make that kind of tool for something you can just open the XML and do in there instead. The custom faction and custom sovereign tools are sort of like that, and they really turned out dull compared to what you can actually do. I don't mean to disrespect someone else's idea, but they've already put a ton of effort into making the XML accessible. If it was between a monster modding tool, or 20 more fun spells in

I don't like those total blocks at all. Rather have spells that boost defense against other spells or such. That way you can maintain a balance between offensive spells and dispels. Otherwise, it's all about dispels. Dispels should have a chance to fail just like everything else.

I'm not really getting any sense of plot development. Maybe it will improve. They're just walking from one place to another, worrying about material stuff.

Unfortunately that kind of variable setting is mostly not available. In ExpandedFactions I have a submod that increases health regeneration in cities to Citylevel * 5. This is a mod that does the same, but only for un-modded cities. http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=EjkgvVBu (all cities have 5 by default, so it is not necessary to mod level 1, and I subtract 5 from each other citylevel (level 5*5 -5)

I hope they're fun to play, I quite enjoy them but one man's butter... If I was a real coder, or was paid to expand on those dungeons, or could mention a few changes for SD to implement, I could do a lot of interesting things with them. As for now, this is more or less how they are.

Yeah, first question same as tridus, how does intelligence influence these spells? Second, it really seems like magic is very closely tied to champions now, and I'm not sure I like that because it means if you want magic you have to go gravedigging. Will there be units you can train for some factions that may have access to low-level spell-casting? Third, I really think there's room for a lot more summons. They are key in separating the viability of magic from the viab

I only played the demo, I didn't like what I saw. Although I would still have to agree that the price tag is warranted, it has some insane amounts of (well-made) content. My dislike was more on a personal level, I simply don't enjoy games where the gameplay is focused in that kind of strategic domain. White Bull goes moooooooooooooh!
