The lore of elemental is completely new, and it is not just re-using the most common fantasy figures (elves, orcs, dwarves). Because of this, a big problem with the lore of Elemental is that it takes time to absorb. I love it, it is beautiful in its own right. BUT I love it because I played it a lot. I think the game still faces the same problems as it did before as far as introducing the lore to new players goes.
Noticed a slight fps improvement in the late game.

Abilitybonus and abilitybonusoption aren't overwritten when you do a new one from /mods/ (see https://forums.elementalgame.com/434780 ). The prereq is still in effect. You'll need to modify the coreabilities.xml file, or create a new series of traits and spells.

The answer is it differs on what you are attempting to overwrite. For Abilitybonus and Abilitybonusoption you can use the second way from /mods/.
