Frogboy said: ... "And people wonder why gamers have gotten so cynical." Seriously! I've not exactly been a long-time customer of Stardock or anything, but having bought three games through you guys, two of which you made, and Dragon Age: Origins, I can safely say I've never had a better consumer-experience with a game Developer/Publisher than I have with Stardock. When DA:O came out, while the launch

[quote who="Brainsucker" reply="1" id="2811160"]The problem is that Stardock doesn't call the Hero, Hero. They call them Notable Person. Sooo I don't think that they are hero. They are just people that noticeable by your sovereign because of their past deed. Of course, some of them have the capability to become a hero, but many of them just people who can help your sovereign build the kingdom. Soooo, rather than Hero, I prefer to call the Officer / helper / wiseman / etc. They are

I wouldn't hold my breath... But I wouldn't lose hope either. As a very wise man from a certain film I can't remember the name of once said... "The Ox is slow, but the Earth is patient."

You want a real example of how DRM is fucking us over, look at Ubi's new-ish DRM system. "Gotta be Online to play a game that has no Online or Multiplayer functionality what-so-ever, or the multiplayer isn't what people are picking this game up for anyway." I.E. - Settlers 7 or Assassin's Creed 2. Legal or not, let's face it, we have to show them we won't stand for it. Getting cracked games that you already own is a great way of saying, "I filled my end of the deal,

I believe many things. First, I believe there is other life out there in the universe, and it's likely not all of it is Intelligent. It's also likely that some of it is. Second, I believe I've seen a UFO before. On two occasions, though not as close up as the OP. Three occasions if you count the Arizona Lights. I was about 25 minutes outside of Phoenix the night of the lights. It was pretty spectacular. I was 17 at the time, and me and some

NEWS BULLETIN: If you read it before I changed everything, then you won't need to see this... But I had to drastically edit pretty much all of Chapter III, not including the formatting change. If you were reading it/read it, in it's original state and were enjoying it, please accept my deepest apologies. Seriously, I am so so sorry. It had to be done, and I hate that I may have broken someone's immersion, or worse, made the story less enjoyable for so

As someone who has paid for the game, who purchased it on retail day one, I believe that I have the right to speak as long as I am civil about it. I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything like that, but I'd really like you to tape it to the office wall. Elemental had a beta and people gave critical feedback. From the look of the retail laun

But once it got there then maybe you would have to build the 'wonder' to firmly establish it as the capital of the world. I would suggest it would have to have both a certain size area of influence, (probably a percentage of the map) without including the AOI ffom your other cities. It would also have to have a certain population. I am p

Okay, quick preface here. I ask two things of potential posters coming into this thread... A: That you only post with Constructive Criticism's about the game or the ideas herewithin, meaning if you are going to shoot down someone elses idea, provide reasoning, and couch it in REAL, UNDERSTANDABLE, LOGIC. B: If you feel like shooting down someone's idea but CANNOT provide constructive criticism, admit it, and try to put s

Mmm, sounds borderline Civ Cultural Victory. Gotta go outside the box for this one, has to be something... Spectacular. It's a Civilization-Tech related victory, after all. And thank you for not assuming the worst. Sometimes I just assume that others will assume the worst. =P

I agree with the OP on many if not all points. There are some I don't agree with, but it's a big post and I can't be bothered to nit-pick the parts I disagree with out of there... So, for all intents and purposes, I'm agreeing with everything until said things are fixed, and then I'll go through and nit-pick, because there will be a whole lot less to worry about at that point.

Like Fearzone said, this is difficult because this game really is better than the sum of its parts. But here goes. I like Unit Design/Customization. We need more of it. Maybe not a TON more, but more, and what we do have needs to be polished. I.E., fixing Female/Fallen model clipping, and other clipping issues, specifically with Sovereign and Pop-Up sheet poses. I absolutely LOVE designing Sovereign's. I've probably spent more time just making Sov

Okay, I had to stop reading through every... Single... Post... Around page 5.5, so bear with me if I repeat something that's been said. Yes, PC Games these days have launch issues more often than not. Some more than others, as all us Elemental owners already know. Yes, it's hard to make it work on a broad range of systems without TONS of QA first, or a longer Beta, which as has already been stated, will be done next time. (Good for you Brad, learn

I'm gonna take your score-card as of it's current iteration, and make my own changes, and try to give a sort of review based on my personal opinions of the merits, or lack thereof. Credit where credit is due, this is a blatant copy-paste job of a very well designed score-card that I am adapting to my own purposes. All credit for the design of this entire post, the scorecard, and all the things those imply, goes to Das123. It's likely that my scores will still be rather s

Dude... If you still pay attention to this thread, keep doing it. I'm loving the endless rant of Lord Xia. It's not only entertaining, it's even enlightening a little. I never knew you could re-name AI Sov Kids... Gonna have to try that. A lot of these ideas are pure win btw. Particularly the bastard child thing. It shouldn't be limited to your Sov. I agree with the idea of a new victory condition, specifically pertaining to the Civilization tree. I'm not sure I agree with the how of it. Wonders are nice and all, sure, and the idea behind needing stuff from the other trees, and the why behind that, is actually really well thought out. I just feel like there's gotta be a better way... Unfortunately, I'm all tapped out on semi-rational-but-poor ideas atm. Edit: Just realized that that la

So so glad to hear that units in a Party/Squad/Company will be making individual rolls. I'm sick of training a Squad of Archers and watching them ALL somehow miss... It's 8 friggen arrows, one is bound to hit... And maybe even do damage... Which reminds me, I seem to recall reading somewhere that you guys are changing how To-Hit and Damage values work. If I'm remembering that correctly, it'd be nice to get a new word-bubble-thing for the 'Hit for 0 damage' effect

I. UI Changes/Fixes - Tons of people have already put forth my general ideas here, but I find the UI to be rather restrictive in general. On top of everyone elses suggestions, mine are; Make it easier to build buildings. Yes, picking a city and pressing B and then clicking twice isn't all that hard. But I typed that whole sentence out before I'd be able to do that. Use QWERTY hotkeys or something even, that'd make it super-easy. Or just m
