See this and this pinned post
I've been around since Beta, I know this. I switched my shifts for Thursday and Friday to yesterday and today so I could take a crack at the Beta, and I've not had time to get the stuff together. As it is, I've gotta leave in five minute
I'm inclined to say no, it's not the same, but I haven't seen any of these mechanics yet... Having a hard time getting myself to play. I think between this and GalCiv 2, I may have tapped myself out on TBS for a few days. I di
Same problem existed in 1.09e, and the Faction Color was used for Map Color.
Staff, 8 points, 5 attack I believe. (Need to double-check this.) War Staff, 8 points, 15 attack. (Dead sure on this one, been using it.) Oak Spear, 15 points, 8 attack. (More sure than I am about the standard staff.) Knowing there's never a good reason to get a club? Priceless.
While I agree with the points made above, sarcastic or not... You guys can't really expect him to not be frustrated, can you? We've all had our fair share of it with this game I'm sure... Sometimes folks just gotta vent, even if it's a little misguided. Granted, I've been avoiding doing the exact same thing since I do know this is a beta... But come on... Where's the love?
So here's the basic details... Was doing Maggie's Ring Quest, went to the location and attempted to fight the wolf. It defeated my Sovereign. I received the message that he'd used 100 mana and was incapacitated for 5 turns. Then, immediately after, I got a message that he was under attack, from the same wolf that had defeated him in the first place... I hit auto-resolve, just to see what would happen. The wolf proceeded to run about 10 tiles West, to a piec
Debug.err: http://pastebin.com/WmGwtru8 No dump, none was created, and yes, I'm looking in the right place... I've still got a 1.09e Dump from October 24th, but that's it. Not sure how much this is gonna help, if at all, seeing as how I've got nothing else to offer... As far as I can tell it just went kaput on me. Was playing a Custom Sov, newly created (Deleted the carry-over Sov's from 1.
Speaking of GalCiv... Holy crap that game is hard... Like MoM was... Except MoM's difficulty was actually... Well, I dunno how to articulate it... I just get stomped on Normal in GalCiv. I can win on Beginner no sweat now, to the point where it's no longer a challenge, but jeez... I'm certain I'm just doing something wrong, but man, it's hard. Jovai, you should consider yourself a little lucky. Guys like me who've been around since the B
The way you deal with the 'lack' of food is by not needing as much. Outposts are going to cost a food just to get off the ground now, making city-spamming, and therefor food, less of a problem. I dunno if farms are going to be non-requisite anymore. Any Dev posts you can link to for verification? If that's the case, I hope they're only provided one or two a pop, and 4-5 for Apiaries and Farms built on Fertile Land/Wheat, etc. Another thing, roads in 1.09 we
Just wanted you guys know that I've been testing the latest build out and it's looking good enough for a beta. No one's at the office to stage/release it but it's looking a lot better. We'll be pretty interested in hear feedback on it. It's definitely a beta but it also has a lot of bug fixes and performance improvements in it too. The UI improvements will probably be one of the things users notice right away though. I'
Shelving the game for a while and coming back later is definitely not a bad idea. I did it back in August after the release, which was sour after having been in the Beta since like April. I came back at the end of September and was pleasantly surprised to see how far the game had come, at least in stability. They're fixing one major issue at a time, and that's a good thing. It shows that they know there are major issues with their game, and by fixing them, they're
Waiting waiting ever so patiently... It's a good thing I'm a patient man. It's a good thing Brad's a good boss. It's a good thing we have this game to help shape... Life is good... And Patient, apparently. Take your time Stardock.
Sorry all. The beta build isn't passing QA. Even though it is just a beta, and issues are to be expected, it has stability issues we want to address before releasing. We are pushing the release until tomorrow to give the developers some time to investigate. I apologize to those who have been patiently waiting, we have more work to do on our end first.
Loki? Not sure if that was multiplayer. Nothing exceptional - just yet another Diablo 2 wannabe. Overlord has a multiplayer mode of sorts but I dunno if that's just deathmatch. Couldn't get into Dungeon Siege myself. Felt like a long, dreadfully boring grind. Too much micromanagement to bog down the gameplay. Titan Quest is prettier but still plays like a cheap Diablo 2 knockoff. Gets boring really fast. <br
@ozo: Yeah, they did. In March, shortly after the release of "The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom," their servers, only two days in, went down... For about a week. This prevented anyone from playing AT ALL, single player included, even if they'd bought the game. Actually, the Pirates were the only people who could reliably play the game at this time. Their servers going down consequently prevented anyone from playing Silent Hunter 5 I believe it was, and Ass
You are jumping to a lot of assumptions about my thought processes to villanize me, and it's pissing me off. You're also being incredibly hipocritical by calling me biased. Watch it. Just because I think non-combat champions should be scrapped for better fitting mechanics does not mean that by extrapolation I think everything that doesn't fit well needs to be scrapped. Losing this is not a big thing, regardless of how you feel with your bias from
I think we're all forgetting one important thing... While there is a +Prestige/+Mana building for both Empires and Kingdoms in place... The Shard Prerequisite +Mana/turn buildings, at least in the changelog, do NOT list them being 1/nation. I assume this is the intended event, further adding to the new vaunted importance of specialized cities. We'll see later today.
I don't know where to begin with this statement, as it is simply wrong. Computers were not created to simplify complex systems, as the computer itself is a highly complex system and the original computational systems where huge device capable of only well defined tasks. Modern computers still do not allow you to simplify complex systems magically, but utilize complex methods of data abstraction designed by humans which break these sys
The point isn't their utility. Whether or not I think they are useful does not impact the following two points: 1) Champions are supposed to be combat units (they are the only units that can be equipped, cast spells, other than sovereign). They are the equivalent to heroes in MoM. Despite this, the vast majority have been given non-combat traits which encourages them to do the exact opposite of using them as combat units. Choice i

I also find it strange that you can't connect both systems to the internet at once. To be honest, that sounds a lot more like dial-up than ADSL! Personally, I'd recommend Titan Quest with the Immortal Throne expansion, particularly if you're into Greek, Egyptian, and Asian Mythos. (Though mostly Greek.) Me and my friend have actually been replaying that recently with a new pair of characters, and I gotta say, I love it. Love playing the Corsair. (Defender/Rogue.) That's another great feature about the game, is the multi-classing. At Level 2, you take your first class out of Eight choices, Nine if
I think this entire post has been in expansion land, and more than likely fictional expansion land. The most likely scenario is that this entire post will go the same way as the camps before it. I think once the devs give us more control over how caravans work, modders will be able to take some of these ideas and add different resource systems which cater to every side.
This thread is certainly getting to the length of the cam
Quoting Tridus, reply 234 Quoting Sythion, reply 232 Again, sounds needlessly complex. It's not trivial to implement, and not particularly visible to the player. The gain of realism is not worth the costs IMO. Okay, so you'd solve the problem of units with skills that only work while they're in cities gaining XP and levels... how exactly? The solution actually isn't
