Maybe because using too much from Master of Magic is illegal? Not that I don't think they could have taken more inspiration from the game, especially with regards to hero units, but there is a limit...
No, many games copy from other games. Just look at how many Diablo clones there are out there.

Oh man magic immunity was incredibly broken - it worked exactly like how it sounded: made the unit complete immune to damage from magic. Too bad there was another item or something (can't remember now) that could make a unit completely immune to regular damage. So of course I combine the two, and get a single hero that becomes my one-man army - destroying all the other nations without taking a single amount of damage. edit: on a side note the weakest part about MoM was the dis
I usually walk around a bit, trying to see if I can find any gold on the map to settle my first city near. I also setup my sovereign so that he can move 4 tiles a turn (and that everyone in his group moves the same speed).
This puts me at ease and has me looking forward to 1.1 - hopefully it refines the experience!

If I could (and you had karma) I'd take it all for making such a useless post.
Good for you. I sure as hell didn't pay $50 for some tools and some XML files.
Honestly Elemental doesn't compare to MoM at this time. Maybe with a few months of support and good design changes / additions. The magic is far too bland at the moment (aside from all the other issues too).
No - read the license agreement.
Cities in Master of Magic made a lot more sense. The rate of growth depended on different conditions. And the population were treated as a resource in that you could allocate them more toward farming, or toward manufacturing/production.
I agree that the Civ style of allocating the population to different jobs would be great - but implementing that would require vastly more work than my current suggestion.
Rising, do you have an art portfolio?

I just noticed I posted this in general rather than ideas, if a mod could move this that would be great.
I won't be surprised if my idea is not feasible... it would require a lot of changes to be made to the core of Elemental. Current issues: Prestige is the only thing allowing cities to grow at the moment. We already know that people can have kids (due to dynasties) so why isn't the general population doing the same? We've been told that "people" are supposed to be a valuable resource - I don't feel that at all. Population numbers
so can we actually use custom sprites? I checked out the particle editor very quickly - all I saw were tabs upon tabs upon buttons upon tabs. Didn't have the time to explore. It's too bad we can't get persistent terrain scarring. Is there anyway to have the fireshield effect remain active once cast?
Congrats icecrown - you've accomplished in 5 days what an entire art department couldn't in 2 years. PS: I love the fireball now :D
Sandbox? I can't even begin to imagine a TBS game that wouldn't be classified as "sandbox".

How idiotic to tell me it was impossible. They even said they would even send me some autographed thing if I could show them. I'm thinking I'll come back to the game once it hits version 1.1
Well I tried posting this earlier, but apparently some mod is cencoring the forums. Brief french review of Elemental
