I'm interested in picking up a Sim game and Silent Hunter 4 stood out (Silent Hunter 5 is out of the question due to DRM). I've heard though that the game is (or at least was) quite buggy. Is this still true for v1.4? Does the u-boats expansion update / improve the main game or is it a separate game entirely?

Well then if it wouldn't be worth it for you, you could choose not to select it.
Hmm what do you mean? Like slicing and stuff or? Armored princess had all the usual stuff as I remember, or am losing my mind
The tactical battles from the demo are almost entirely silent except for the music. From the reviews I've read this is true for the full version as well. There is no audible feedback when casting spells or attacking or anything. Complete game breaker for me.
I've played the demo of armored princess. Couldn't get into it all for one big reason: there are practically no tactic sound effects to speak of at all.
Give us back the organized trait BUT nerf it: armies lead by sovereigns with the organized trait move no less than half of that sovereigns move points. In other words, army move points >= sovereign move points / 2.
The adventure tech tree has never made sense to me. Perhaps it should be replaced by a "history" or "lore" tech tree that focuses on uncovering artifacts / dungeons / etc.
we must be playing two different games. I just started a quick one out of curiosity. Within close walking distance of my starting location: 3 gold mines, 2 earth shards, 1 fire shard, 3 farms, 1 old forest and an ancient library thing. The whole point of having an wide array of resources is to make some of them rare. What are we to fight over if not for the rare resources? Since we cannot steal brides (yet) and cannot plunder enemy towns then I can only assume the answer is noth
I really have no idea why so many people dislike campaigns. I love them.
I like campaigns too - but only if they are presented well and have an interesting story. If Stardock does not have an adequate budget to pump into production values then I'd rather get an expansive skirmish mode.
Exposing all of the combat related aspects of the game via Python would be great and would allow for a wide array of mods. Above all: Provide clear definitive advantages / disadvantages for armor / weapon types. Give players a reason to choose certain types of equipment - just like in SC2 where each unit fills a specific roll. Bonus damage against units with essence, reduced movement speed, bonus against mounted units, etc. Balance unit
Unit attributes (attack, defense, wisdom, etc): changing the # of attributes units have as well as what they influence. All tactical combat mechanics / features All aspects of the AI All aspects of city development All aspects of the GUI (graphics, new windows, positions, etc) All aspects of magic / shards / mana / etc All aspects of quests In short - allow for total conversion mods.
lack of meaningful depth.
I agree that the game lacks overall focus. This is largely due to the development cycle used to produce the game. Normally a design document is produced before anyone starts writing code. This document outlines all aspects of the game (at various degrees of detail depending upon the size and complexity of the systems involved) including mechanics, systems, graphics, sounds, etc. The design doc should function as a road map of sorts: preventing feature creep and keeping the development focused
I have been reading a lot of reviews of this game and Brad's amazing response/apology to the gaming community. I would like to add my two cents. I don't think it is all Stardock's fault for releasing this game as it is. I was involved in the beta process because I am a huge fan on Master of Magic. This game was supposed to "spiritually" follow MOM's footsteps. I think it would have. In the beginning the game sounded great.
I really don't need bikini armor to enjoy the game. HOWEVER - adding some more exotic armors would definitely be a nice touch.
That thing looks dangerous. Did you use a camera to take a screenshot ? [e digicons][/e] [e digicons][/e] [e digicons][/e]
I'm pretty sure 1.1 will end up being where the game should have started... maybe.
It is quite easy to fix the champion / sovereign balance issues: https://forums.elementalgame.com/388465
Elemental still only utilizes a max of about 35% of my GPU capability under 1.7, but that's better than 0% under 1.6. Find more of those "magic bullets"? I get around 15fps mid- to late-game, which is a massive increase in playability (compared to 5fps) but still rather bad considering what the hardware can do.
Yup I'm in the same boat. I'd estimate I'm now getting about 35 - 45 FPS overtop multiple cities instead of
Game crashed after pressing end turn. Debug: http://www.youshare.com/Guest/5aeff50bce1c3277.err.html Crash: http://www.youshare.com/Guest/784befdc5db99251.zip.html
While the performance still has room for improvement it is FAR FAR more playable now. Thanks. Too bad the AI is still useless: destroyed an empire 11 turns into the game. Destroyed a kingdom 35 turns after that. By my 55th turn I have 7 cities.
Wow I'm really surprised the game got a 70/100. The guy was pretty much complaining the entire time.

Allow me to continue: the quake series, the unreal tournament series, galactic civilizations 2, the civ series, modern warfare 2 (a hit due to its multiplayer, not its 5 hour single-player element), etc.</p
This is a great way to fail; I'm a gaming student and you do nothing without the story first and formost, and game play follows the storyboard for the game.
Rofl. Yes, lets listen to the "gaming student". By his logic Tetris, Pacman, any Total War game, Team Fortress 2, etc should all be failures. If you want to get into video game development, go into CS. If you want to be on the more creative side go into art o
