[bug] Something I have noticed playing this version is that, on the cloth map, the mountains seem to disappear. This is cosmetic only and is solved by a save-and-reload but as I like playing in cloth map mode, it is difficult to tell where the mountains stop and start.

I'm not really sure why people think Civ 4/FFH was so great for city building... I ended up making the same cookie cutter cities and taking the same wonders each game I played.

Please, please, do not let Civ roads make it into this game. They end up looking like a disgusting brown mess of spaghetti...

1 The rare choices aren't rare enough and I've sometimes have seen them 2 or 3 times through the course of my leveling a champion. Rare should be near game breaking in its excitement and utility and yes, the rares should be exclusive. If I take Path of the Mage, then I cannot take the others, or maybe only one or two... 2 Cities never seem to get rares until level 5. I don't know if this is intended or not. More city levels, with slower population growth and more unique ch

I don't know about anyone else but on some tactical maps the units' pictures seem to get lost in the map background. This could be solved by a simple black or white bar being placed behind just the pictures, since it's on the left and doesn't obscure anything meaningful anyways. Perhaps even an option toggle for people who dislike the idea. I know my eyesight is not getting any better with age, not sure about anyone else's.

In all honesty, to me, Freedom = good and forced labor = evil... guess that's a politics thing. Usually when more factions are introduced there is more homogeneity and less originality, as you have only a certain amount of unique mechanics to work with. I understand wanting to have as many as possible, but as you said, since they will use all the same base improvements and techs, how different are they really? As for the golems vs living stone, iirc you

what about us that like cloth map mode? This does nothing for us besides reduce city sprawl, which I like

I love what you do and have done with this. A few suggestions based off that list: 1 Shadows seem more Empire than Kingdom 2 If you get rid of Angels also get rid of Demons from Empires 3 How are Living Stone and Golems different? Isn't a stone golem "living"? It is not that I dislike Living Stone, but if you remove Shadows from Kingdom then you could have: -Gnomes, Elves, Living Stone for Kingdoms; having Angels and (unnamed extra resource un

I like these ideas and would like to further that, if there is a defensive outpost, perhaps the directly adjacent tiles have some sort of move penalty to them for enemies. This penalty would be similar to how you cannot move past an enemy in a tactical battle, directly adjacent. It would give purpose to the outpost and make them more strategic. Also, don't let the AI build outposts in my ZOC, which, for some reason, has happened to me more than once in three games... weird.

Thank you for the awesome response so far, everyone. I have Gothic 3, somewhere, but when I got it at the time, it just wouldn't run on the computer I had. Should I revisit it?

I'm in the mood for a new RPG. I will run down the basics of what I like and dislike, as to not bore you to death. I'm just wondering if they make any good RPGs anymore. Seems they are hard to come by. Likes: Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale/Neverwinter Nights; party style, 3/4 top down, combat pause, D&D lore/character creation Fallout 1 & 2; immersive world, lore, weapons , driving storyline, a plethora of side quests and
I like smaller maps, because once I get up to steam there's nothing the AI can do to stop me and I don't want to spend hours just mopping up. The most interesting game is before I conquer a faction or two as it's still challenging. Once that's done, no matter how many enemies are left, the game is pretty much over because nothing the AI does will oppose me.
The only thing that needs to happen with this is the AIs need a thresho

I would love as large as possible. I have 12gb of RAM and want to use it all! Especially since most people, i'm guessing, play these games vs AI, time is never a factor. edit: I also edit the elementaldefs file to increase the techs and arcane pacing further. I also like to have 12+ AIs.

+1 for each quest here. and plz don't remove the quests. they are part of the game now and i'm sure they would be missed. that is something you could consider a radical change for FE, but don't do it there either :p edit:
1. Provide an interesting strategic option. For example, a quest where the player can sacrifice a champion to a Death Demon in trade for a spell that allows the player to summon that Death Demon in battle.<

I have noticed that it seems like the AI never uses consumable items if their sovs do pick something up. I.E. books that give + to atts, exp potions etc... It also seems the AI doesn't put much much importance on leveling sovs and champs. When I'm running around with level 6-8 they usually are still at 2-3 and with no armor. Great post btw
