I don't know about anyone else but on some tactical maps the units' pictures seem to get lost in the map background. This could be solved by a simple black or white bar being placed behind just the pictures, since it's on the left and doesn't obscure anything meaningful anyways. Perhaps even an option toggle for people who dislike the idea. I know my eyesight is not getting any better with age, not sure about anyone else's.
