I agree. Not training units sounds fine to me and fits the lore, but success in battle should lead to improvement.
A "veteran" soldier on the Kingdom side is trained. When training the soldier, once you unlock veteran training you can pick it as an option, and you spend extra time to get stronger troops. That's the option the Empire doesn't have. Presumably if some kind of unit XP system comes in, both factions

The main people hurt in this type of model is Gamestop. If EA wanted to *kill* used sales, there wouldn't be an option to buy a code. You buy a new copy or you don't get multiplayer, period. What they're doing instead is adding a fee. So instead of Gamestop being able to sell a used copy for $5 less then a new copy (where they keep half of that $55 and the publisher gets nothing), Gamestop instead sells it for $45 and also sells the $10 code. Gamestop still makes money, and th

Well, I think you're right, and wrong. Some things are undeniably true. Demigod's main issue was that in the early going it had connectivity and matchmaking issues. Those weren't really Stardock's fault and they worked hard to fix it, but it kind of snowballed. People moved to custom games and external systems like Hamachi and Gameranger to play, because they worked better. That fragmented the community, and it never fully recovered. Custom games in particular had the problem you desc

Sounds pretty sweet. [e digicons][/e]
The Empire also scoffs at the Civics concepts of markets. Deals are made on the basis of leverage alone. Because connectivity problems were such a nightmare with Demigod. Get it in early and you get months of testing before release. (It also means features work with MP as you add them, so you won't get any nasty surprises like if you added MP in beta 5.) 2. The AI isn't done yet, and likely

I don't agree with the second part of the order. Gameplay is king if you want to make a long-lasting game, absolutely. But when I look at games I really got into or games I remember, it wasn't because of art. It was because of the story and the characters (aka: lore). Not the art. It doesn't matter what things look like if I don't care what happens to them.

I'm interested in seeing prebuilt factions and the lore behind them, so I guess that is where I'd rather focus go. Not that I dislike customization, far from it. But I really like the idea of having interesting factions. If anything, in a future patch/expansion, you could add focus to improving customization more easily then you could add the lore in. Though to be honest, I'm still finding the subject hard to grasp. I just want to say "yes" to the question and get both. :) So

At the moment we just don't know much about most of the factions. Too much stuff is missing from the game to really get to know any factions that well. So the poll numbers can be kind of misleading that way. We certainly need factions to play against. While I might like to create my own, I also like to play as some of the built in ones and really don't want to have to create ones to play against. Letting people create their own races is cool, though.
