Actually that's not quite true.. originally it was developed as SP or at very least an SP focused game ... there are some threads on this as well as an audio interview some where.. Brad explained that the beta testers convinced them to do it.. however that was looong before I got in to beta 3 so.. and has been a promised part of game for a good long while now.. here is one of the threads.. You guys know the game was always planned to be multiplayer and the code is already there, right? Someone isn't slaving away building MP into the game tonight.

I think that topic has been pretty well beaten to death, shot in the head and left in the desert to feed the vultures. Yes, they (insert your favorite invective here) messed up the release of Elemental as badly as anyone cares to state. I think that's pretty unequivocal. The question here, I think is, to get from where Elementa

Plugged in a 360 controller and tried it again and it plays pretty good. Though I did just find out that in an effort to throttle game advancement speeds (ie leveling) they are only allowing 8 thresholds (a threshold being however much xp they deem it should be) per week of 100% experience gain followed by 7 more thresholds o

The problem is the scale is off, not the system. 1-N works fine if the maximum value for N is limited. Without it it's impossible to balance, there's far too much randomness in the system. Limit N and you can use hitpoints to balance it out - if the maximum attack is 10, then a
You guys seem to be having the same problem we had in Canada. It's supposed to be available, but nobody has it. Something didn't work out with distribution.
Damnit Nick. :P But you get the general point I hope. :)
Multiplayer is on the box. At some point you have to enable it. I mean, really. It's been 3 weeks since launch. It's time. It'd be pretty out there if Civ 5 managed to have working MP before Elemental. It's not like the people asking for it want a whole lot. People aren't asking for special modes or custom tech trees or tactical combat disabled. We just want the SP game with more humans. (Stardock wants to do those things anyway, but I really don't think it's a good idea at this point

It's possible to beat a tank with a warrior, and I don't like it. ..as for tactical battles: I think it's a must have in a strategy game, because it adds a lot to the gameplay.....but that is my subjective opinion of course.
That's completely false in Civ 4. The battles are pretty deterministic, with some RNG thrown in. But if you ever have a warrior be

The upside to a shared casting pool is that aside from fixing more casters = more mana regen, it lets you have big spells. You can't have 100 mana spells right now, because it's effectively impossible to get any caster to that point. With the new system? You can. Make wisdom become your "casting points" or how much mana you can channel in a turn, and combat is pretty similar. What you gain is that the spell of making can take say 5 turns. AoW 2's casting system was pretty much built a
You're sure that system won't play it? I'd check the demo, you'd be surprised how inaccurate requirements sometimes are. Demo is coming out the same day as the game is.

I like it, actually. It's one way to make sieges effective. If you're under attack and can't leave your cities, you can't wander around fighting monsters to build up more gold, soyou're taking an economic hit that way. It's kind of strange to make more money from killing things then from gold mines, but it seems to work.
Agree totally. This mechanic sucks. Aside from the AI problems, where's the fun in spending the whole game building up a strong sovereign only to be told once war time starts "oh go park that guy in your capital and don't use him/her offensively"? This fails the single most important test in gaming: the fun test.
