Tweaking existing systems and adding new stuff is one thing - major overhauls to the core game require an entirely different pipeline. In-flux bu

It can definitely be improved, and I'm sure SD isn't afraid of work.
Welcome to business reality, then. They also need to make some money on this stuff to continue developing it, and that's not going to happen with WoM now. It is what it is. FE means a chance to start fresh, and a new set of reviews. If those go b
Quoting Cruxador, reply 34Also the "less city micromanagement" in this interview sounded suspiciously close to "dumbed down" or "deemphasized", but it's Stardock so I'm at least far less worried than I otherwise might be. I was worried about this too.
It sounds suspiciously like not having to tediously build 40 houses to grow your cities.

It's also a very large amount of work, and not worth doing for what is now an old game. At some point people need to accept that WoM is what it is, and trying to freeze time to avoid the new game while also saying "dump a ton of resources into this one" is just not realistic.

You run corporations with trade/logistics the primary focus but with combat/tech development present. Key point is that the you set up, customise and automate the corportations (could be automated space stations or robots or freighters) - a kind of explore expand exploit exchange 4X game - governments go to war but you sell them the arms to do so. I don't know how many things you can lose really. The real "core" stuff seems to be staying, especially since the interview mentions how he uses MoM as an inspiration. Under that guideline quests could go, but it's not like magic or tactical combat are disappearing (those things are getting more love instead). I think it's a good way to go. A game that does 5 things and does them well is a lot better then a game that is mediocre at 10 things.

From the new Gamespot Q&A :
Other systems, such as population storage (aka housing) that used to require that the player find food to build houses to grow cities, have been simplified (less city micromanagement), and systems such as dynasties have been cut entirely . Technology research is a more elaborate system where the player can
I think the problem might have originated from the game engine - it was originally developed for Galciv2, which takes place in vast, empty outer space. Everyone expects outer space to be bland (and uniform, and lifeless), while in case of a fantasy landscape, it's a problem.
No it didn't. This is a new engine developed for Elemental.
still bland... and yet you don't seem to follow what has been said by the developers. 1.3 will be when new stuff will be added, when new content is added. 1.2 was major bug fixing and extermination of bugs and glitches.
How does that not line up with what he said? Today, it's still bland. It might not be, later (but probably still will be).

No, wait for Fallen Enchantress. WoM still isn't a very fun game, even if it works better now. The majority of the development team is working on FE. That's where the improvements are really going to be showing up. You'll get more bang for your buck later. Don't bother right now.
Single player or Multiplayer (up to 16 players). I've never tried multiplayer, but I hear it does exist, can you really have 16 players? I wouldn't know.
The lobby allows you to create one for 16 players, but map sizes are limited to tiny and small so it would be REALLY crowded. That said I don't think there actually are 16 people playing MP Elemental, so crea

Main problem I have with the 360 is having to pay for Xbox Live. More specifically, having to call up that bloody call center when I want to cancel Xbox Live because I'm done with whatever game I was playing. How a company like Microsoft can't figure out that you need a "cancel" button on the system in the same place with the "subscribe" button is beyond me, but I avoid buying multiplayer games on that system for just that reason.
Where my logic flaw comes in is some of the fans on the site who have taken the "Well, Elemental is so screwed up that I don't really care for it anymore, but as soon as FE is released I'll be right back in." I know the term fan derives from fanatic, so having blind faith in a company that couldn't get the current game to be something that the fanatic enjoyed in the first place will get it right the second time makes sense to them, but I can'

It's the nature of the beast. This is the case with every game. But MP in Elemental does work. It just isn't the same as the SP experience. Anyway, the whining on this issue gets old. I wish some of you that hang out here just to complain would find some other game to bitch about. [/

That's what I'm talking about. For Impulse or D2D or most other DD services, that isn't true. You don't need to have a 3rd party program installed to run the game, the program you need is for downloading and installing the games, not running them. If I download all my Impulse g

SC2 however is nothing like that and i am really disappointed. Here is the hoping, that next CnC wont be trying hard to be EA´s Starcraft and will rather continue the CnC tradition with maybe few improvements taken from recent RTS hits like CoH or Supreme Commander.
The only way you could do this is if Stardock suddenly decided to use Steamworks authentication for Elemental. If the game requires Steam running to be played, then if doesn't matter if you play it through Impulse or Steam, kinda like Magicka. However, Elemental is a Stardock game and Stardock still stands behind it's GBOR for all their developed games. I think Steam technically violates the GBOR as written and bes

To sell through steam, they would have to give up 30% of the profits.
