Is it just me, or does it read like there's a missing page 2? It just kind of stops.

It's not a lot of fun to have someone tell you that what you want can't be done with the budget available, and it's really not fun to be the guy doing it. Course, that's not as bad as promising stuff you can't deliver, which is a lesson I had to learn v
But Brad has told us why. It's because WoM is a 53 Metacritic game that people don't like. If it had been as liked as GalCiv II then he wouldn't dare to touch corethings like that. But now since it's a failure anyway he can experiment as much as he wants. And I agree with that (though I don't suffer like others here do since I don't want to play WoM ).
Sure, if you ignore the part that it's a 53
I don't see that at all. The sales haven't really changed. There's been some good ones, and some not so good ones. Just like before. All that's changed is that now it doesn't have Stardock fans pushing it online, and nobody else much cared to begin with because Steam's game selection is so much better. The idea of going back to SDC at this point is pretty absurd, Impulse was created entirely because SDC wasn't up to snuff when it came to pushing out games.
Your point is only valid if you accept that the dynasty system was always planned as some sort of decoration or secondary detail. To some of us who were with the beta well before the first version was released, dynasties were, conceptually at least, absolutely a core game play element. Nah, there's still some people hung up on physical copies.
Well that's too bad, but it's hard to argue with that reasoning. Thanks Derek. What about a strategic map level defense where stone walls around a city prevent attacks until the attackers camp outside the city and use a "siege" ability for two turns?
Quoting Sethai, reply 33 I’d also advocate a “laying siege” mechanic where an army surrounds a settlement without actually going in for the kill. Armies should not be able to move to a city and attack the inhabitants in the same turn unless they have the means to do so (ie catapults). The attacking army should have to wait a number of turns before attacking, based on their amount of siege equipment and the quality of
They didn't hint at it, they flat out said it. Of course that was back when they owned Impulse, so hopefully someone thought about that when writing the sale contract.

I'd really appreciate it if Brad or someone would create this and keep it up-to-date in a sticky. Right now, I'm having a really hard time understanding the thought process between WoM and FE being two 'different' games, instead of FE just being a normal expansion that improves and expands the original. So far, it sounds like FE is just going to be bette
So what I'd like to ask here is what exactly are people expectations for FE? What does it need to accomplish in order to get a thumbs up from you? What does it need to accomplish in order to transform into a game that people will still be playing 20 years from now (I just downloaded MoM from GOG and while its obviously has aged in some regards its still fun)? And finally, based on what you've seen so far, do you think Stardock is moving in a direction that will meet these expec

The tactical combat AI is incredibly weak, yeah. But that has a lot to do with there not being a whole lot of mechanics in tactical combat. If the AI played smart, half the fights would end in stalemates where nobody is willing to run in to attack and it wouldn't be fun for the players. If you're asking me if you should buy it now, I'd say no. Buy Fallen Enchantress when it comes out. That'll be the version to play.

No, there won't be a polish translation of WoM. I guess its not impossible that if it does well they could translate the expansion (FE), but there's been no suggestion it's going to happen either. Civ 5 is better right now. Hopefully FE changes that because Civ 5 wasn't exactly that great either.

I don't think The Old Republic will make a 2011 release either. I'm betting on January. Though I hope I'm wrong, I have a lot of vacation time in December.
Yeah, that's a great example of a circumstance for a trait: an elite unit for a certain purpose that the player is not going to build all the time. That's not what I've got a problem with. It's when every tarthan needs a trait to work as intended, or every archer. Why give the standard archer a trait that they have the option to remove, when you could apply that trait to the bow itself (ie, all archers), and the
