I'll get back to you.
If there's two bad games in a row from the same series, why would you even want another one? Hell, why would they make another one? At that point it'd make more sense to admit that the "Elemental" brand isn't going anywhere and it's time to move on. A game studio can only put out

Off the top of my head because I haven't looked at it lately... the research screen has that annoying circular room nonsense that makes it impossible to see what's available without a large amount of awkward scrolling. I found the map hard to read and navigate, kept having issues with sending multiple ships anywhere (I guess they weren't grouped right), and in general found it clunky and totally unintuitive. I fought to make the UI do what I wanted far too many times and it annoye
Steam's been known to do that because their updater wants to update files that were changed. Witcher 2 was really bad for that, because the DRM patch removed DRM from the 2GB data file. Steam wanted to download 2GB. The GOG updater needed a 10MB patch to do it. Just a few days ago actually Steam did an update to the download service that will allow them to do delta patches instead, which going forward should start to erase the problem.
Fourth, some farcasting ability for your sovereign might be handy, like in AoW. Ie, your sovereign isn't in the combat but he can still cast spells into it, but at an increased cost the further away you are or something like that.
Oh yeah, that too! If Magic is meant to be a big thing, it needs to be usable in combat even if your Sovereign isn't there. AoW 2 handled that really well.
Does spell damage only scale from shards? Or is there stats (like INT in WoM) and items that can also boost it? Shards are a lot harder to come by then making bigger weapons (at least in WoM they are) so I'm concerned that if you can't boost spell damage it'll fall behind as the game progresses.

And yes, I agree that his choices were based on an emotional attachment to the games, as opposed to a real analysis.
That's true of pretty much every "top 5 X games" ever created, pretty much every game review, and almost every thread on this site. This stuff is all subjective. Like putting Sword of the Stars on the list, which I would never do because the UI is terrible and it r
Most likely GamersGate installed that 2GB in the wrong place. Steam games all run from inside Steam's apps folder, if it wasn't put there then Steam won't know its installed. Knowing that, I don't know why GG had you download anything more then the Steam client and let Steam handle installing the game.
Holy thread necromancy! Does anybody talk about anything other then Dominions 3 lately? :P
I would say that people are spoiled by today's games. Everything is reversible - injury, affliction, even death. In a real combat you can lose a limb in a second, which leaves you crippled for the rest of your life (if you survive the trauma). Even injuries can take month, even years to heal. I say the culprit is D&D with all the endless p
Getting FE for free is their attempt to make good for WoM being what it is. Saying that a free expansion isn't good enough becuase you want a boxed copy shipped to you also for free is ridiculous. That would cost a fortune in extra expense that should be spent working on the game. Fact is - physical copies of PC games are going away. Better get used to it.

I thought the company that made it bailed on them and Stardock did their best to pick up the pieces?
Because Stardock is the publisher and it was a MP focused game with broken network connectivity at launch? Don't worry, GPG got blamed for that fiasco too. That whole thing was a shame because once the networking was working Demigod was actually a good,
The one thing I'd like to point out, is that not one person has chimed in that it's not an awesome game - on this or any other thread that I can remember reading (I can't possibly be right about that?). That should tell you something. Personally I have no problem with the $55 price tag, it has given me far greater returns than many, many much prettier and more recent games that cost as much, and I only play SP (I can't
The original language change read like they had ownership of the copyright of anything posted there (so they could resell it commercially and not compensate you). Now the revised version makes clear they have a right to copy anything you post between their servers for the purpose of providing the service, but NOT copyright ownership.
I kind of don't get this; they've been very short on specifics of gameplay and function, without any real reason to be so obtuse. EWOM's been out for a year now, almost, and while the game mechanics may be changing for EFE, I don't think the game engine is changing substantively from EWOM. While there were some minor criticisms of artistic style, I don't think EWOM really suffered for its engine. Mechanics, how

Because making WoM good at that will require considerable developer effort that has to be taken away from something else? This is a zero-sum game. If you throw more people at WoM, you're taking it away from FE. The goal here should be to make one really good game, not two mediocre ones.
On the other hand nothing is hurt if the people working on E:WoM are still waiting for other parts of E:FE to be finished before they can work on it (which is the case with AI).
That's true, and 1.3 falls into that. Since it looks like FE beta (the version that will be stable enough to get AI work) is coming out before 1.4, it does preclude working on 1.4 until the FE AI is mopping the floor with players. :)
The problem I'm having at this stage is that I originally anticipated Fallen Enchantress as being a game with its own game mechanics that wouldn't be released with the kinds of gameplay flaws that WOM had but still ultimately a game that was of the same production values as our other titles (Sins, GalCiv, WOM, etc.). But Fallen Enchantress is a noticeable step up from WOM in production values which is taking a lot of the wind out of m
With the killer sales Steam has been having all week, you're really better off getting something from there until FE comes out, then coming back. Honestly there isn't a good reason to spend money on WoM. It's not really "broken" anymore, it's just bland and not interesting.
Thank you for the update. However, my main concerns are still not being addressed. As I brought up in this thread, https://forums.elementalgame.com/409938 I still don't know what the point of WoM is versus FE. This latest journal continues to discuss improvements to WoM, and also talks about how... In all likelihood, the first beta of Fallen Enchantress will hit before War of Magic v1.4 goe
WoM isn't very fun. FE has approximately a 100% chance of being better then WoM. Wait for FE.
Speed does matter for the AI, as making the player wait is considered a bad thing (even though that would allow for better AI) these days and is therefore avoided.
Honestly, it doesn't. Speed matters in the graphics engine because a 2FPS game is unplayable. If the AI is good, people will tolerate waiting for it until a patch later has some optimization. It's far more important that the AI is intelligent then that it

I'm pretty sure that Stardock started from square 1. Also, while it may be fun to make fun of Basic, it was... adequate enough. C++ isn't going to magically make it easy or quick to code. That said, they still need to get it done; the tactical AI really needs to be at least decent
