What they said. If you're looking for a single player focused game, Demigod isn't it.

So, what are we going to see when zooming in?, only units and structures over the cloth map? I only hope that the Beta doesn´t delay too much, I'm getting very very anxious waiting for it.
In the early betas, that is correct. We'll see the cloth map, and... whatever they put on the cloth map. In
Basically, Stardock's position is that on the games we host there will be users whose Internet connections fall below a certain threshold of quality. Rather than letting those users, as has happened in Demigod, wreck the experience for all players, they won't be able to play on our servers. The threshold will be determined by the beta testers and Stardock during the beta. However, when users choose to host games themselves, the
Then I suggest you get friends with faster internets. But seriously, I am sure they will allow direct IP multiplayer gameplay. I think the required upload speed they are talking about only applies to SD's multiplayer service.
Why does Stardock care if I want to play with a friend who has slow Internet? Why do any of you care? It's not like we're playing with you. This is them trying to solve a problem that shou

The lighting makes a world of difference.

Historically, they don't typically release things on Fridays, especially things like Beta 1 of a new game. If a good chunk of the team is at PAX, they likely won't be around to get it prepped for release before Friday, either. I hope for this week, but I *expect* next week.
You're forgetting about the tactical battles.
Starcraft played just fine on a decent dialup connection. Hell, WoW *still* plays fine on dialup if you're not into something that saturates the connection (raids, or Dalaran). I just can't see what Elemental is going to be doing that would require high speed upload. Demigod has that problem becuse it's P2P nature causes expoential growth in the data b

From the interview:
Salvation or Ruin This is a piece that nicely illustrates a major component of the game - environmental territorial control. As your nation expands and lands once barren are replenished with magic, you will see a dramatic shift in the feel of the terrain. Kingdoms of Men will see their countryside turn lush and green. Animals return to lands healed and the surrounding ocean reflects the blue sky above. Play as a Fallen E

I see psychoraven is back to his trollish self. What people actually want is an AI that plays the game well and tries to win. Not some AI that when it's losing can randomly conjure up super troops. You're not playing a game of skill at that point, you're playing against the RNG and hoping that the gods of chance won't come down against you. It's bad game design.

No, not really. You're still buying the game. "Paying to get in beta" implies there's an extra fee for that, which there isn't.

I predict this will last approximately 15 minutes in beta. You would need a truly terrible connection for a turn based game to even notice it. I'm talking cellular modem at the edge of coverage terrible. There's no way a game like this should require fat pipes and

Entrenchment beta, too. The same thing came up. Watching psychoraven get schooled is always fun. :P I just wish they wouldn't call it a "pre-order". If you pre-order games from anybody else, it doesn't work the same way. Like Aion for example. I pre-ordered that and got a beta key without paying anything. Of course, I did that entirely because I wanted a demo due to not trusting MMO reviews or hype in the slightest. So I tried it, then cancelled the order. What Stardock does p
So nothing of importance happens in the zoom in view? It's just eye candy?
They've said before (and I think one of the articles mentions it as well) that the game is meant to be playable from the cloth map. The engine is disabled in beta 1 for that reason. If you can do it zoomed in, you should also be able to do it on cloth map view. The upside there is that very low end systems can do the cloth map but not the 3d eng

I bought and I7 just for Elemental (and DoW2.... )
Last news was sometime after PAX. Hopefully not very long! Last news on 64 bit was that they need a 64 bit version of Havok before they can actually make a 64 bit Elemental. It'll run right now on 64 bit hardware/OS, just in 32 bit mode.
