There was a post in which a SD employee said it would work in 64 bit... not sure of the details though...
That was Vista/Win7. XP 64 isn't usually officially supported because it was never actually meant for non-business use and is such a tiny group of people.

I guess it's just a question of how complicated do you want to make it. As a refugee in the wasteland, a place of safety is appealing. However it's less appealing then a place with food. :)
I am praying it is rolling. I preordered early august, I feel I should get in Beta 1. It would be silly to lock people out, especially because as the word spreads more people will want to join in. One other thing: when does the preorder money get withdrawn? At the beggining of beta or when the game is released?
Anybody who pre-ordered before beta starts will be in beta, I don't think i
Hey, that screenshot has a "heroes" counter in it! How do heroes work? Are they just your imbued units, or something totally different?
So does this mean that Elemental won't have cinematics like World of WarCraft: Wrath of the Lich King where there comes a new trailer every 6 months or so?? How much did those trailers cost btw? I always thought trailers costed like max $10.000:- and then you come and say $500.000:- !!! Just incredible!!
Depends on which ones. The tower in the background of that screenshot looks great. Is that Mordor? :D
The important takeaway point from this: Stardock betas are not demos. They're actually betas. The game is nowhere near done, and your feedback can lead to real changes in where the game goes. That said, looking forward to playing! :)
That sounds neat, though id like to know where you heard it. I also agree that without multiple ways to win, the game will become a war sim and not a fantasy sim. Yet, I still believe the AI must be programmed with the idea that war is innevitable, as it is probably the most common victory type.
There was something said around here at some point about a lengthy quest chain that could win the game if completed. I d
It's sad that some people don't want a truly competetive A.I. They simply want the best possible A.I that plays along with what the player wants....
A good article I saw on game AI design was that when people make an AI that is truly ruthless, a lot of players rebel. Players have a tendancy to want an AI that "feels" like a challenge, but that they can beat. Difficulty settings are a good way of dealing
But it would still seem random to the player, and in that case what you get is a steamroller effect; the more powerful a player becomes the more likely he is to be attacked, be forced to conquer the enemy, and become more powerful. The infinite loop this becomes starts to get old after a game or two. I see what your trying to say, and where you stand, but to make an AI think like that is impossible pretty much anyway, as I showed you i
A good trailer can draw attention to the game. But if there's nothing there? Warhammer Online had a lot of attention at launch, and then it cratered because the game itself was pretty bad. A good game with a bad trailer will do better in the long run then a bad game with a good trailer.
Glad to hear that Brad. :)
I'd rather just ask for a stable windowed environment able to change resolutions, and perhaps even to have additional windows (so that multi-screen users can have game windows on multiple screens) to allow for easy access to any chat or voip programs; steam, skype, AIM, IRC, vent... you name it. I think that is much more reasonable than asking for steam intigration (esp
I have no problem with an AI that stabs me in the back, in fact that makes the game fun. My problem is with your trading idea, and that alone. A trading system that doesn't allow me to know that when I accept a specific trade it's going to actually happen is fundamentally broken and will never gain widespread acceptance from gamers. But if the AI signs an alliance with me with the goal of trying to get me to engage another enemy, only to turn around four turns later and

If it's not combat or economy (maybe diplomacy), it doesn't seem to deserve a chance.
Why can't the AI close the trade and rip you off? Sure, it may warrant a declaration of war on your part, but perhaps you are not in a good position to do that? If the AI is able to extort bribes out of you, why can't it also scam you out of deals as well?
Because players won't tolerate it.
Not really. There is not fundamental difference between several rounds of offers and counter offers and simply adjusting for the green text except for click overhead and extra dialogue to read. I think the question about beta being delayed needs another answer: "Blame the alpha testers for hogging the game and not letting me play!"
The issue with your statement is twofold however. 1: "We will mod it out" is such a bad fallback. I'm paying for a game that I like from the get-go, not the "privelege" of fixing it.
So am I, and we don't want the same thing. ;) So somebody is going to have to mod something to get exactly what they want, and making a mod to turn off the events that are tied to lore is simpler then making a mod that creates all tho
the idea of "official lore" is what bothers us, Aesir. The concept that the game will be built with a "well, they can mod it in if they need to" sort of attitude, then jam pack it with lore not everyone wants. Having lore to work with is ok, but the fear is that there will be a sort of "railroad" even in the regular campaign as to how the story evolves. Some of us want empires with orcs and elves, we can't have that though, so now we are just hop

You don't see it as often because there's almost always small maps in games, whereas the upper limit on map size usuall
