My only issue with having a lot of resources is that right now the only way to actually harvest a resource isi to build a city near it. If there are lots of resources, you may need a ton of cities.

Anybody notice the digicons aren't working in this thread?
Just to be clear, even if you decide to remove the Quicken and MS Money upload feature, it will still log into our WoW accounts and sell all our gold, right? [e digicons][/e] Looks like a lot of progress in a short period, good stuff. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
That is a huge screen you have. :)
Quoting NachoAdept, reply 4 I have yet to be in a game long enough to get a hero (had about 6-7 cities and was trying to ramp up the prestige to attract one). I have killed a couple of other sovereigns so far. I don't think Heros are in this stage of Beta.
Far as I know, they're not. I'm not sure what beta release those are scheduled for, but I haven't seen a post saying anybody has gotten one yet.
I don't really see it. If my goal is to build Legions of Terror and go around beating people up, I'm not going to turn around and focus my research on advanced peasant housing because it gives an extra bonus if i get there first. Let someone else have his fancy houses, I'm making catapults.
You would imagine so wouldn't you? Unfortunately if you install it 3 or more times you'll have to call Microsoft because it won't "activate" over the internet anymore. They may tell you you've activated it too many times and you need a buy a new copy. It almost happened to me with a guy on the phone. I got really pissed off and asked for his super visor and I complained to him and he reactivated my copy of Windows. I guess you do have a
Maybe Boogie or Frogboy will chime in here. Until then, I'm not sure what else to tell you. Best bet to hold off on your pre-order until we know it does what you want. :)
Multiplayer won't actually be in the game for months yet, so nobody outside Stardock can say for sure. But I'd be shocked beyond belief if a standard sandbox multiplayer isn't an option, since its effectively the same as the single player game anyway. These other modes would be for people who want something faster then your typical week long game. :)
Your threat to "boycott" UPS because they pulled their ads from FoxNews is comical. I'm quite cerain UPS could care less about your "stance." And then, to say your upset because they "boycotted the whoe network." Well, you may have missed this, but the network hires that crackpot and gives him the space to spew his crap. Let me show you the total impact of your statemetn in terms that should be clear to you. "
EA has been making an effort in the last couple of years to do better. While they still put out lousy licensed IP games, they've also been working at putting out more original stuff. Sometimes that doesn't always pan out (Mirrors Edge could have been better then it was), but thats the risk of doing new stuff. They did pick up Brutal Legend after it was abandoned though, and for doing that they got a +1 from me. :) At the moment Activision is trying to become what EA was in the past: b
When shipping to Canada, I prefer USPS.
This x1000. Their rates are FAR better (including no brokerage fee nonsense), and the items are easier to pick up since you can get them at your local Canada Post (ie: get the mail) instead of having to take a day off work for the UPS guy or driving out to the middle of nowhere to pick the item up. Plus, the post office has never lost half of my shipment, then delivered it a week l

You can set some reasonably long time for player to make his turn (of make the turns paral
The GalCiv 2 Wiki is pretty useful to explain how some of the mechanics work. As Elemental gets mechanics that need explaining, the wiki can expand into this stuff. Great idea starting it now. :)
Unless there is zero micromanagement in city management, large maps will inevitably have more of it then small maps (since they have more cities). Unfortunately, as mentioned by other people, everything being so automated that the player has nothing to do winds up not being a lot of fun either. This will put a constraint on the map sizes that you will likely want to use.
If you have the Impulse tray app running, it's supposed to tell you when there are updates, but the option to do it for beta software seems to be off by default. Right click on it, go to settings, and enable that. Next time there's an update, it should tell you.
Yeah I get the same thing, though I can cancel it sometimes by left clicking on auto-explore once. There's no visual indicaton that its on or off.
And Stardock, considering the number of XP versus Vista, it should be better to support XP and not Vista ... I think that It's Vista that Microsoft is trying to forget ....
XP-64 and XP are very different things. XP is still the #1 OS in the world, XP-64 only ever went to a small group of people and was never meant for everyday home use. (It was meant for professionals who really needed the address spa

You should also get an email when your order is charged, that is when you'll get access to the beta. :)
