I strongly oppose these suggestions as a horrible waste of developer resources, and as a boring attempt to be political correct whatever the cost. I'm so tired of this female sexism, I'd almost wish I lived in the time before computer games..... I tried halo 3 and couldn't get into it. Aiming compared to playing on a PC is like using a gun mounted on a drunken camel.

The problem right now is that the only way to harvest resources is by building cities near them. So you can wind up with a ton of cities just due to that. I'm hoping that as the beta goes on we get some kind of "outpost" option that lets you build say a logging camp to harvest a resource, but isn't a full blown city. With that in place, the need for a zillion cities goes down and the cost of building lots of them should slow ICS down some.
I agree and I've been very concerned as well that a few developers are 'pushing' too hard for a system which is toooo simple. I want to have resource piles of not only gold, but also wood, iron, meteorites, crystals, stone, etc., etc., . Simply allowing nations to build anything despite lack of resources is unrealistic and feels wrong.
and raising volcanoes is realistic? :D The problem SD seems to be h
I notice that on that list Impulse doesn't get an exclusive item. doh? The only real problem I see here is that almost every store has some extra goodie. That's just silly. The actual content DLC (as opposed to the goodies) being available at launch isn't the problem, its included in the game anyway. All that does is put a dent in the used market for the game, since you're not getting as much as someone who buys it new.
The Stone Prisoner is included in all new versions (regular and CE) of the game. It's 10+ hours of more gameplay plus a new character to add to your party. If you end up buying a used version of the game then you can buy it later on for $15. Wardens Keep is a $7 DLC and again adds several hours of gameplay to the game and a keep for you to have as a homebase (and other items). It is only included in the Digital Deluxe version for
They had something similar in the Final Frontier mod for Civ4. I have to say it wasn't very compelling. The thing you want to watch out for is that resources can easily become irrelevant. It means that a huge empire is a huge empire, and they don't need wood because they make up for it by being a huge empire. In FF, I learned to ignore resources and focus on expansion, because the effort needed to secure resources was the

I'm kind of confused by the different versions on Impulse. The more expensive one appears to mostly have bonus items as downloads. Does it include some actual content as well, or is it just the items and such?
I guess I'm not really clear on how this will work for gameplay mods. Mods that change art are one thing, and don't really matter a lot. If my Sovereign looks normal and yours looks like Hello Kitty, the game plays the same way. But if I start a multiplayer game and I'm using a mod that adds things to the tech tree, and I want that mod to be active in the game I started up, is that going to be possible? If so, I'm assuming it will just grab the needed data from me when you joi
They shut down the demo before I got a chance to actually play it. So, now its a game with no demo. Oh well, no money from me.
What do you need Hamachi for? According to the beta roadmap, direct IP connection is going to be in.
Gamestop is basically a pawn shop these days anyway, they're useless for PC gaming.
What I primarily notice with Impulse is how glacial patch downloads are in comparison to a full game archive. When I install a game from scratch I get a steady 10 Megabytes per second, allowing me to download a big game in a couple of minutes, which is as it should be. However, whenever a patch is released, the download speed is about 200 KB/sec, a mere 2% of the full game download speed. While I understand the reason for this behaviour,

GFWL is a good idea that went horribly wrong. On the Xbox, making a multiplayer game requires less work then on the PC (or PS3) because a lot of the necessary stuff is already built and provided by Xbox Live. It's a good thing. Doing something like that on the PC would also be a good thing for game developers that don't want to have to deal with all that stuff (it'd also mean that if it works in one game, it should work in all of them, since its the same network code).<
Kryo has been documenting these. I’m torn between wanting to put up an interim build this week that lets people have the bug fixes sooner and waiting until next week when there’s a lot more features.
