Really? https://forums.elementalgame.com/391741
Yes, really. Of course you're going to see people reporting issues in the support forums, but when you consider that Stardock sold enough early copies of the game to at least make back their $2.5 million development budget, you have to expect some problems. I think for the majority of people, Elemental is playable.
Its not like the game is totally broken or anything.
Exactly. The game is playable out of the box with no major game-breaking bugs. That counts as "finished" in my book. And we're already seeing the promised post-release support with an epic "Day 0" patch that's apparently 5 versions ahead of the gold build (gold is 1.00, the Day 0 patch is 1.05).
Maybe now he'll be good for more than just an early-gamer resource boost.
"LOD levels on main map are now back to what they used to be for better performance" Sweet. As much as I love the cloth map (I really do, I'm not being sarcastic) it'll be nice to actually have the game playable from the 3D view.
Holy crap, we're going from v1.01 to 1.05? That's pretty epic!
"Finished" is a matter of interpretation.
I've been concerned about this for months. In fact, it caused me to sit out the beta and delay my preorder until last week. And after playing for most of yesterday evening and getting deep into one sandbox game, I realized I was right to be concerned.
So, if you had so many misgivings about the game and were apparently pretty certain you wouldn't like it then why the hell did you go ahead and buy it?

Doesn't look like it. I'm sure there'll be an announcement when it's ready for download.
Nobody is entirely sure how well the game runs at the moment because there are some performance enhancements coming with the Day 0 patch that we don't have yet.
Population costs food. The number you see is what's left over after all the costs have been deducted. You could in theory build up your population until that number hits zero, meaning that your population is consuming all the food produced by your kingdom.

You cannot make a DRM system that will stop piracy without wasting tonnes of cash and royally pissing off all your users. I sat down at my computer around 10:30p last night figuring I'd play for half-an-hour before going to bed. Next time I looked at the clock it was 12:30a! I have a love/hate relationship with games that are so good that they make me lose track of the time.
Um... there's only been one patch -- 1.00 to 1.01. Today the 2nd patch will be released and that's the one that contains the performance improvements, so whatever's going on with your system, it wasn't the patch.

I prefer the cloth map over the 3D view. Not just because the 3D view has some performance issues at the moment but because it's so much easier to tell at a glance what is happening in your kingdom. It may not look as nice as the 3D view, but in terms of accessibility and the way it presents information, it's superior.
