As well as some otehrs from Gladiato
That's an early design that if had few units was because... early design? In fact, there aren't supposed to be squares (one of the times that Frogboy commented about it, he said that). Plans on something like Total War pausable continous turns and that's all we know. And that he envisioned battles a la Lords of the Rings intro (biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig battles) so that's a hint to "many units in screen". Tactical battles are still very away from us in the beta sched

I have fun speculating but as long as their background is s
Only people at Stardock know how those battles actually work right now (if they do work) and/or how they plan to implement them. The only sure thing at this point is that the battles involve lots of 1 and 0.

Yeah, everybody has their definition of "Magical World" and it's a fact that you can never satisfy everybody (unless everybody = 1, in that case: maybe). That it's a different type of "Magical World" doesn't make it less of a "Magical World".
The community really could use some info on why sovereign death = game over - even just some hints would be nice. Someone suggested that maybe when you defeat a sovereign the winner absorbs his essence - it would be interesting to have some hints other than just speculation. It really is such a central part of the game it is hard to intellligently discuss a lot of game mechanics/balancing without understanding how this works.
I finally remembered th
But in the end it boils down to: is there any resurrect in the game from the lore point of view? If lore says no, we won't see it in game. If lore says yes, then it's a matter of knowing its limits because we already know that it doesn't affect Sovereigns (SD=GO). From the feeling I get of the little we know, it seems that once someone dies in Elemental (be Sovereign, hero or John Doe) there is no way back. Ok, undeads are there but I'd take it more in a sense of bestial non rational
I liked it. Hopefully we are getting some old good SG fun/adventures in the next episodes and not just BSG-in-SG, but I liked it.
I think that the cities dissapearing when the Sovereign dies is just a placeholder. Because it doesn't make any sense. If you look at the land where the cities where, you can see that it retains it properties (green for life, dark for death) which sdoesn't make sense if enemy kingdom/empire must dissapear because of lack of Sovereign support.
TL:DR: Is there any kind of Resurrection in the game or what? WoT: One of the main concepts, which specific reasons are still uknown to us, is that if your Sovereign, a figurine in the map that can actually do many things included exploring, dies then you lose the game. We don't know what happens if it's an enemy Sovereign who dies: does his Empire join you? Does it shatter in tiny and independent Baronies? Do those lands fall into total anarchy for a time in civil war
Non-negotiable.
I'm starting to worry about your health, Denryu. May I suggest?
What Frogboy proposes doesn't allow the Sovereign to die (because it'd mean game over). And I'm supposing that even if your Sovereign falls during battle, you don't autolose but have to wait to the end of the battle to see if the fall was lethal or just some inconsciousness (scaping is an extra that appears if his army loses and he was defending). To resurrect, you first need to be dead. And totally agree with Sammual. ^^

Kiithed broke the thread for IE... but at least his post is really interesting. I like it (the idea in the post, not to be forced to use Firefox to visit this forum). About civilizations not trading resources... once upon a time, some people wouldn't trade the secrets of Bronze.

Just throwing ideas here. Sovereign doesn't scape based on being in defense and can die not just when attacking. (+0) The number of the armies matter. If your enemy overwhelms/swarms your Sovereign, he cannot scape (-1) until the different in (numeric) forces becomes less to the point of allowing it. f your army overwhelms/swarms your enemy, your Sovereign can scape (+1) (500 men against a Dragon... the Dragon might be all powerfull but he is just one and the Sov
Altough MtG design has good things, mostly I find it plain (except that future model, I think). The design for Celestial Edition from the Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) is simply awesome while keeping the information clear. So if Frogboy is going to use a card as example in his post, L5R's are simple awesome. (sorry but Chuck Norris doesn't cut it) <img src="http://www.l5r.com/images/doji-domotai.jp
I tought that economy would be simple at first and maybe get more complex depending on player feedback and all that? So no stocked units of anything to begin (and maybe end) with.
