I just think it's ironic -- maybe in the Alannis Morissette sense -- that a proposal that begins by suggesting that women in games should be more than eye candy, concludes with a mechanic that Sir Thomas Moore would be proud of. Usually, when I read that suggestion, it's followed by some lengthy appeal for social justice.
And there I have to point to the part you quoted. No one has problems with men in this kind of games being
Didn't watch the third episode. It's all too predictable. They go through a stargate every week, looking for supplies, which takes them somewhere like Mexico or Canada, they meet aliens they disagree with, they disagree with each other, someone gets threatened with being left behind, they struggle to find/barter what they are looking for, they just make it back through the stargate when the clock reaches zero. Did I miss anything? Yo

Instead of stripping the clothing off our fantasy women, we're turning them -- literally -- into the reproductive organs of the state. The text is quite bad rules wise... I incresed it a bit for the second post but not sure if it's enough. In any case, they are resized by the HTML. You can take the original URL where they are and see a pic of it in real size: Big enough? XD
the computer will have a hard time getting it right and basically you can abstract it into one number, "manpower".
That is an argument against it that I can like (as negation of my idea).
I didn't know how to add the T as Tap in the Planeswlaker (it's some kind of script that should automatically convert a T in the symbol but it didn't work there). And Planeswalker work like: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Article.aspx?x=magic/planeswalkers/week4 Once the game (Elemental) grows and has some meat on its skeleton, I'd not mind to create some kind of semiserious set. Considering that I haven't played any kind of ccg (be it Magic The Gathering, Legend of the Five Rings, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, Rage, 7th Sea, Age of Empires, Pokemon or The X-Files*) in more than five years... you should consider any actual text in the cards related to rules as Placeholders (they are Beta 1A :P ). I know you are not knocking me for bringing it up (one of the reasons to mention this topic is to have people say good and bad things about it), so don't worry.
(long post) I get where you're coming from here, and I agree with you. However, remember that complexity should be implimented from the ideda of what would be fun, as opposed to what would be realistic, then "justified" through lore to make it realistic. I just don't think that maintaining a male/female ratio identical to real life would be that fun (especially at an abstracted city-based level). And the good thing is, you d
My comment about real world laws in combat was a broad one. You that have been in these forums for "some time" should get the (twisted) reference. :P But as I said, I use what should be simple to understand (and implement if it were the case). I have said it many times, I want a whole system for the game and not just war+magic(+research+economy?) with a bunch of subsystems as streamlined as possible not to annoy the wargamer types. As someone who already tried to mod something in (and was forced to uninstall and install again because of that...), any idea of when minimods will be possible? Be it a new race or just changing the pieces of a figurine like I was trying. XD Around Beta 2? Really need to wait for Beta 5?
Winter, I really think you're overanalyzing this a bit much. Although the units do appear to be all male, they are just placeholders, and it seems to me that in a world as bizzarre as EWOM's, you don't really need to follow traditional real-world population-growth laws..
Check the unit creator: they are all men. Placeholders? I suppose that's the idea but just in case it's not, I don't think it's a bad idea to point it out. Ab
Dude, where are my Women? (Wall of Text(TM)) TL;DR Are there any women in the game appart from Heroines and/or monsters and/Sovereignesses? If the answer is yes, which are the plans for them / what can we expect? WoT: Single white man looking for... Women. If Dragons can be recruited like if you were recruiting Paladins, then they are no special but your "big flying unit with area attack". If Dragons can only be in your army if you convince them to join you (aka you cannot produce them and can only recruit them by some kind of quest that won't be easy), then whenever you make one join you, you get a true feeling of achievement, it really feels special and... fits what Frogboy has been describing. If dragons become common (hey, dragonrid
